No problems with my Dark Impact and TRF501X- these buggies seen SERIOUS ABUSE in both racing and bashing with very minimal damage. Believe me, people who has seen me run ALL OUT with these buggies will tell you I am a MANIAC :D

It's true... :D

Now if only they could build touring cars that tough... :D

How heavy is the dark impact then? Maybe you could fit shorter arms on it and make it competitive enough and tough enough for touring car abuse :D :D

And looking at any touring car, the TL01 has to be the toughest... I started the hobby with one, and the only thing it didn't do over the last 7 years is jumping from higher than 1.5meters and being run over by a real car :D

I know they are very basic kits, which maybe why they are so tough, but, I have a lot of time for the TT-01 chassis - I have several, and they have been bounced fairly heavily - infact - the only part I have had to replace has been the alloy steering kit I fitted to one of them - It bent in a crash, so, I relaced it with the original !

I'd have to say the TL01 and all its variants are pretty tough vehicles. They do have some weak spots and a bad crash in the wrong place will split the chassis, necessitating a full rebuild :D but generally they are very tough, and extremely versatile. I acquired a TL01 chassis on an impulse purchase and since then I've fallen in love with the design. It's way too heavy and clunky for proper racing, but it's so versatile - you can cram 70mm shocks onto the basic chassis for massive ground clearance, and make a very scale-looking truck :D

What do people think to the Mad Bull just for bashing?
tried all ways to break mine before, jumps, smacking it into kerbs and it got turned over more times than enough both at the local park and in the back lane.all that happened was a seriously scuffed body :D only just realising now i should`ve kept it :D i paid 79 for mine at the time although i think they`re about 60 ish now.for the money they`re brilliant

I have to say the Twin Detonator is totally unbreakable. I have tried believe me ! It just keeps coming back for more. Its like that Hilux on top gear :D

Hehe, the twin detonator is quite strong yeah... I had a Wild Dagger, and it jumped up and down quarter pipes many times... Somtimes falling 1.5/2meters... The only thing that happened to me is that one of the four front mounts of the front differential cracked and broke. So it is breakable, but I only discovered it when I put it on sale (dumb of me that I have ever done that)... :D

The ones I've put the most "miles" on, without substantial repairs, have been a TA01 Lancia Delta, a TL01 (I forget which shell it originally came with), and a Super Hornet. I also had a Blazing Star that ate front shock towers but was otherwise indestructible.

for me its got to be tt01 tl01 df03 and ta02 variants. all **** near impossible to break, as you can see by my driving they are driven to destruction which for some is yet to arrive.

tt-01 tl-01 dt-02 mad bull

too simple to break much, not hard to replace whatever you do manage to break, and tons of inexpensive parts available. mad bull parts are a bit tougher to find than the others, but you can manage.

ps: if anyone has a mad bull for sale in the US for a reasonable price and in very good condition, drop me an email

I'll go for the wild dagger / twin detonator / double blaze / dual hunter and the next name of the same kit to be released by Tamiya  .

Due my incredible bad driving, dare to call myself a expert

on this subject

1) Twin Detonator - refuses to die , whatever you trow at / with it. -

2) TT01

3) F103 - As long you keep a body mounted, these things get airborne & come back for more punishment.

and for the fun of it,

Most breakeble car, not Tamiya actually

FG monster 1/5

Every time i take it out for a spin, something snaps/breaks/fall's off

BAR NONE the only TAMIYA which has not broken ONE single part with me has been my TL01. I have hit pavements at full speed +-30kmph and did back over front flips and no part has ever broken.

Best tamiya ever built. Im now running higher chassis due to longer suspention and rally tyres and its taking the beating with a smile and asking for more.

The F103?? Jumping? oh... That's quite surprising... I might buy one somwhere in the future (it's on my way too big wanted list) cause of it's simplicity about how you should propel a car forward (no diff, no independent rear susp). :P So is it fun to drive? And how about it's ground clearance (it was lower than teh M-chassis I think, and that sometimes already struggles and jumps around with small split and stones on the tarmac) so how does that affect it's steering? ;)

And the FG... Doesn't surprise me too much... it's much more scale with it's strength. You can't expect to have things in one piece when you crash with a real car, so no wonder about the FG... Although you probably mean it can't cope with regular use either? :(

Hehe... yep... It seems to have no problem surviving a pavement here and there on your run... :P Even the suspension keeps on going without getting bent or getting too much play in it.

Ow yes, the F103 (and c group also) can fly ( did i say jump? :D ) just hit a little ramp or incline in the road with full trottle -insert dukes of hazard yell here -

But, without a body or front spoiler in case of F1 body, you will demolish the front suspention.

Serve your F103 with a 15T motor, and your in for a high-speed-out of-control-piece-of-fun

Ground clearing is very little/none , so don't drive it anywhere else then very smooth tarmac or concrete.

Split/gravel pieces are to much to deal with, hitting a piece of gravel will result in Verstappen type crash.

The FG is just to fast & heavy, compared to a 1/10 anyway. But it is insane fun to drive :)

Think the biggest problem with -my- monster is, it is a bit overpowered for his own good.

It will do 80 km/u without breaking a sweat, over tarmac or offroad.

But with the high center of gravity, it is more a wild willy 2 driving type of car then a proper offroader.

To be fair to the FG, it is over 10kg's , doing high speeds over rough terrain.

I've only see HPI baja 5b's survive more, or the regular Marder, with his lower center of gravity & smaller wheels.

But, that 2 stroke 26cc petrol, is so much better then a nitro engine, always starts, plenty of power,

minimal adjustments needed.
