Hi,

from which kit are you speaking? is it this? http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...318&id=2958 - Tamiya #49335

For this Conversion Kit i paid EUR 100,-- about 3 to 4 years ago - don't know if it's still available, but for this kit you need to have at least an TB Evo3 or TB Evo3 Surikarn,

because it only contains blue alloy parts, which only can be used with those kits.

Maybe it's better to get an old Evo4 (does have already blue parts)...

or do you want to change a TB01 to an Evo1 or a TB02 to an Evo3?

cheers

Michael

MSRP $204  but if you're really really lucky, could be as low as $25 from someone desperate to offload

It is only useful to you if you already have an EvoIII in green or red and you want it blue.

There is no conversion kit to change a TB02 into an EvoIII.

If you have an EvoIV, the recent Japan hobby show was selling sets of GREEN parts to replace all the blue bits.

If you've got a TB01... there's a carbon chassis kit & longspan arm kit that will make it look like an EvoI/II...? not sure, never ran them

_miga_ yes that the conversion kit i want...well have brought for 30 just wanted to make sure i was paying a good price!

any way i have a tb-02 and a plate of carbon fiber. the plan is to cut out a top and bottom deck and damper stays and with the blue parts make my edition of an evo 3...a red eyevolution :D

WillyChang thanks mate, now i want my new blue alloy bits refinished in green. alll you need is the j tree, carbon bits and the alloy and of course the tb-02

ok now that i have ordered the blue bits and they on there way im kinda stuck on the carbon bits i need to place the screw holes for the alloy motor mount and the bit of plastic at the front that has the shaft running though it....where can i get a scale printable diagram?

for anyone who wants a carbon tb-02 have a look here they have carbon bits of other tamiyas too

yeah they do good work but pricey... gee i'd be hesitant to option GBP80+ for a TB02 carbon bits :D

how are they planning on holding on the centre shaft's spurgear 1060 bearing anyway?

if you want to add the plastic standoff at the front, fit it inline with the steering posts,

that's how it is on EvoIII. And you can add a 1260 bearing to it too.

i know what you mean 80 does seem lot considering that you can buy untrimmed carbon plate for under 20. from the plans it seems that its a carbon plate version of the tub.

thats my idea to use that plastic standoff with a hole in the middle. but im having trouble with placing the mounting holes. so far i have traced around the tub and marked the holes. trying to place the holes accurate as possible which i cant do because both the holes for the stand off are on the braces (only have 1 hole on the tub)

hang on, you're MAKING your own CF plate chassis?

you'll be wanting to use the EvoIII alloy motor mount provided in the blue kit then,

its totally different to the TB02 mount as it also holds the rear bearing on the shaft.

(you'll need the change to a larger bearing too, pretty sure)

My thoughts also..

It would be a good idea to find a TC member near you who would let you use the EVOIII chassis plates. Or you could buy the Carbon fiber parts seperately I guess? Or, just ebay a beat up EVOIII?

unfortunately the evo 3 manual does not have plans for the carbon plates. but the evo 4 does, im thinking i might build an evo 4 plate and use the conversion kit and the diff boxes but if i scale the pdf up to 215% the front diff box holes line up but the evo4 is shorter. dont know what to do but to risk drilling a hole in the wrong place suposse i could slot the hole. well im still waiting for my blue bits so i can attach them to the cf plate and see where i can lose some weight (right now i have traced around the tb-02.

i'm working on an EvoIV right at the mo... it shares NOTHING with the evoIII!

(oh maybe the hingepin holders are same size in blue, but even the hingepins are new)

you need a pic of evoIII chassis plate?

The Evo IV is a completly new design in comparison to the Evo III, I have both. Only thing I see that is similar are the one-way and Rear diff...

ooooh... and the battery post mount! i just screwed it on 5mins ago :P

Oneway is blue, so its not the identical as EvoIII's B)

Bluey just got tossed into the spares box joining 1 green & 1 red,

as i installed a EvoIV spool instead.

Was wondering why there's so many adjustment washers on the diffs?

ANSWER = it makes up the difference between 22.5mm & 24mm. :D

Unfortunately the EvoIV spool is 24mm so cannot be retrofitted to eIII.

Yea i bought eIV kit when it first came out but never got around to building, eIII still works good.

Methink its gunna be tricky maintaining eIII, eIV & e5... all the diff gears & bevels are different.

And the 3's suspension arms are unique too, only eIV & e5 knuckles are the same.

Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to 'consolidate' the sparesparts box all into 1! ;)

I did not say IDENTICAL, I said similar :P

If you ever want to sell the EVOIV spool let me know, they have vanished off the F'N planet ^_^ I need it for racing, yeah I actually race!

we should petition T to re-re it, its a good unit!!

Better than any non-T deisgn i've seen that's for sure.

Its bare minimum material and holds the bevel gear from behind instead of in front.

Outdrives are replaceable and there's a choice of steel or plastic.

yea best thing with TT01R is, umm... the BOX! B) lovely TRF-style carrycase... vs stupid TBevo pizzabox.

wish granted! B)

this is not a digipix... as the lens' perspective will introduce scalar inaccuracies

its a scan & trace, difficulty compounded by the chassis being longer than the A4 flatbed

but at least you can be sure the holes are where they should be!! B)

Sounds better than advertised, come on BIG T, bring it back!!!

I actually love the Pizza Box!! Tamiya designers must have been eating Pizza while thinking of a box for the EVO series B)

thank you!!! i will print that out and line it up with the holes i already have, the inaccuracies should not be a problem as i have most the holes.

now all i need is my parcel of blue bits where are you blue bits! i wanted to build this thing during the bank holidays

any way thanks again for the scan

ok a quick update

i messed up when drilling the holes (i taped the tb-02 on the carbon fiber sheet) some of the holes were slightly out. so i thought sod this time to buy a new sheet and start again.

well an evo lower deck poped up on ebay cheeper then the carbon sheet...so i brought that insted along with a battery holder and suspension balls. all i need now are the damper stays and the upper deck and a few other ally bits
