Hello all you tam folks. I just found a reference to a VW Dune Buggy site on the web.RC Driver had a reader's ride photo of what they called a Tamiya Desert Gator with a modifed Cox dune buggy body. I went to the owner's website yellowdunebuggy.com and thought there was a ton of great vintage photos of his real life buggy and the RC version and such. If you are looking for stellar photos for ideas on how to make your RC version look more like the real thing, I suggest this site. I haven't contacted the man yet, but I intend to find out where he made all the roll bars and such and what else he had to do to make the Desert Gator chassis work. I think it is awesome and thought you all should know.

I was looking at the pics wondering what on earth that chassis/shell were - looks like Scorcher wheels and tyres on it, and frog front suspension in one of the pics! Then I re-read your posting...

It'll be interesting to find out some more about it!
