A Vintage Collection I'd Call 'great'

Recommended Posts

Hi Olivier, GREAT collection.....!!

It has been a while since I visited Tamiyaclub and now see this post in the forums :)

As I read the German article the first thing that popped up in my head was your ebayname.....

You have outbid me sometimes on Ebay years ago, and yes, when you bid it was a sign to stop bidding for others :P

I can only admire your collection, it takes dedication to get where you are, my hat's off to you sir!

Good luck,

Martin

Ich bin der Schlimmste von allen.

I like that, very funny. At least, I think it is funny.

Cant see any point in collecting nibs but at least I have somthing to aspire to one day. Might just stick to collecting runners rather than nibs tho. Just imagine all the built models you could get on those shelves compared to kit boxes.

We have been through this many times before. Whilst some may not 'get' collecting NIB kits, it is enough that we all like different aspects of the same hobby and that we can all tolerate each others differences. After all, personally, I think bashing and hopping up TT-01s is a waste of time, however, except for this comment, I don't share that opinion with anyone for fear of offending someone.

Small wonder Typisch Design spends little time here, along with Hong Kong and other collectors. One main reason I spend time here is that despite the occasional problems, it is a fun place to be and I think mega collectors need a voice, even if it is mine :-D

Regarding you personally, Dazza, this isn't an attack on you, as I am just taking the opportunity to call it how I see it regarding this hobby and the occasional knocking NIB collectors get.

If you take the time to read the article (granted, it is in German) it does explain that he does run the cars, tinker with them etc and not only collect NIB kits. I myself have a few NIB kits, however, my projects, runners, restorations and new builds far (perhaps by a factor of 3, I am not sure) outstrip the quantity of NIBs.

Most NIB collectors I know like all aspects of the hobby.

PS : My German is poor, but 'Ich bin der Schlimmste von allen.' basically means 'I'm the worst of all of them.' Any German speakers like to correct me, please go ahead!

Thats a fair argument. I didnt mean to say I dont like nib collectors, infact to be honest after a quick look at kit boxes I feel like buying afew boxes(cant afford the kits) just for display. Its good to see that people are looking after the last nib kits and I cant see any problems with them, all I was saying is that nib collecting doesnt apeal to me as much as battered vintage runners do, but thats not saying I wont get afew nibs one day when I can afford them. B)

Thats all I can think of for now.
