[]TEX[] 0 Posted March 23, 2008 B4 Team is shaft drive and 501 is belt. Those are the main differences. I have had both Associated Factory Team kits and TRF kits, the Tamiya kits are far better during assembly and performance.
lentner3 281 Posted March 23, 2008 but i heard the b4 is super light and strong enough to put up with low turn motors like 8 turn etc. am i miss informed or do the tamiya trf kit boast the same qualitys?
lentner3 281 Posted March 23, 2008 isn't the trf stuff on-road? not buggys?
[]TEX[] 0 Posted March 23, 2008 Both handle hi turn motor extremely well. There are both on and off-road TRF kits. Honestly neither are better or worse than the other. Shaft drive is a more rigid drive line while belt drive is smoother. Like I said, I've had both and prefer Tamiya. Just MHO

lentner3 281 Posted March 23, 2008 can i easily change a trf on-road version to a bugy version? is the chasiss the same or similar?
BiggusDitchus 38 Posted March 23, 2008 TRF501x is the buggy for you if you want to go Tamiya and race 4wd competitively against Losi/associated. This one http://www.stellamodels.net/catalog/produc...roducts_id=3153. If you want to spend a little less (well a lot less) but stick with Tamiya I would advise the Durga, although a Losi, Associated will be better than that. (Have to say I have a Durga and it is a great car, although needs a few little hopups to improve it and its durability.)
lentner3 281 Posted March 23, 2008 TRF501x is the buggy for you if you want to go Tamiya and race at top level. well dont wanna race just wanna really fast and solid basher which i can tune and push with really low turns without bad handling and damaging the chassis and gearbox etc. had a look and seems expensive compared to the b4
BiggusDitchus 38 Posted March 23, 2008 If for bashing and you want to go Tamiya go the route of the Durga, it is a cracking buggy, I run a 8.5 Brushless in mine and its fine with it. Hopups wise you need the front and rear hinge pin mounts from 3 racing and a slipper clutch. Apart from that your good to go (plus it takes ordinary stick packs which the likes of the 501 dont)
[]TEX[] 0 Posted March 23, 2008 If you want something to bash, don't get an Associated kit as I was always fixing mine. I also would suggest the Durga, high tech for a low price. If you don't want 4WD you can get the DT02 MS, great car for a great price! I love mine.
igbandy 34 Posted March 23, 2008 Just a quick point, the B4 is a 2wd buggy, the B44 is Associated`s 4wd.
lentner3 281 Posted March 23, 2008 i know i just want a fast and solid buggy so i can use on and off road and get some serious speed without it breaking eveery 5 mins. don't mind the odd rebuild and maintanance but dont want parts breaking all the time.
