Hello, I've been having a problem with glitching with my motor, it stutters, it splutters, it misses, get the picture! and when it does the steering goes crazy. On inspection I've noticed one of the smd capacitors is missing. I can see how this could interfere with the reciever but can this explain the stuttering of my motor? I've got some 0.1uf capacitors and my plan is to remove the one remaining capacitor and replace it with the capacitors I have. Does anyone know the capacitance of the Orion smd ones? thanks, Lotus.

It's quite easy to lose the capacitor(s) from this motor - I've done it before. I replaced mine with 0.1uf ones and they were fine, so I assume that's the value of the standard ones on the Orion Core.

Jossa, did you experience any problems when you lost yours?
No, once I soldered on the replacements it was fine. If you are still getting the jitters when capacitors are installed it might be worth trying some stiffer brush springs, or replacing the brushes.

Do you get a lot of sparking from the brushes when the motor is running? If so you might need to skim it and get some new brushes, and you can also try direct soldering the brushes instead of using the screw connectors. It might also be worth checking your ESC and radio gear locations in the car; sometimes moving the receiver away from the ESC can help, also changing the route of the aerial lead can help too.

I don't use the Core motors any more, they were too hot running for me and I didn't like the way the capacitors were so easy to lose, so now I race with P2K2 Pro or Monster based motors, don't have any trouble with jitters, but I am also running 2.4 gig and that reduces virtually all chance of the motors and other electrics interfering with the radio signal.

I did a race meeting last night, I fitted three .1uf capacitors one between + terminal and the can, one between the - terminal and the can, and one between the + terminal and the - terminal. The motor ran perfectly all night so happy days! were sorted and thanks for your help, Kieran.
