RCX is pretty fun. I've been every year since they've been holding it. Last year they moved it to the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds. This is a much better venue as there is way more space and parking is much better. See you there. <_<

Traditionally it's been on the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, but Easter's quite early this year, May Bank Holiday weekend might be better. Of course, it all depends on (a) the availability of the track, and (<_< someone/some people offering to arrange it if netsmithuk can't spare the time this year. I'm happy to do what I can, can't organise the whole thing due to lack of time and experience, but if anyone else is interested perhaps we could find out the contact details for the club chairman and get the wheels in motion.

I hope that we can have a meet this year at Kidderminster, as it's always been a great weekend.

Also hoping that a TC Kidd meet is on the cards this year. As Jozza said traditionally its been the Easter weekend the past few years (with the weather having stayed remarkably dry & sunny considering!). Easter is much earlier this year (in late March), so I think I would be also suggesting maybe a May bank holiday weekend instead. It can get pretty chilly in a tent even at Easter time, so by May things may have warmed up a tad :( .

It does sound like Chris may be pushed for free time this year so maybe its an idea to approach him and offer to organise the Lions share of it. May be nice for a change for him to be able to just turn up and enjoy running some cars without all the organizational hassle!

I'm not very experienced at organizing these kind of things, but am quite happy to help out on the weekend with setting up and clearing up afterwards, or helping with other prep work to make things happen for this year. Whoever does the invites is going to have a tough act to follow after last years ones :D . The T-shirt from last year's meet still gets very favourable comments from people that see it - it looks very cool, even if you don't know who or what Wild Willy is :P

So who is going to volunteer to contact Chris and broach the subject then........?

Count me and weirdybeardy in as helpers John, we'll do what we can.

Easter??

Wasn't the first Kiddy meet over the August BH weekend??

Hopefully I should be able to get to this one, I've missed the last 2 big meets for various reasons

Kidds ok but it would be nice to try somewhere else :)

My memory is a bit hazy on the Kidd meet 3 years ago (it was the first one I went to), but I do remember the weather being a pretty hot that meet so it may well have been either the May bank holiday weekend or the August one? Have to say I have a bit of a soft spot for Kidd, and I think it has a lot going for it in terms of catering for as wide a range of people as possible:

- Camping is right next to the track with proper toilet block and plenty of space for camping and running nitros.

- Track itself is suitable for a wide range of cars from Buggies to on road chassis's and trucks

- Guy who runs the track seems very reasonable / flexible and is glad to have us (unlike some other places -Snett anyone?)

- its cheap (-ish)

- probably the key factor though is its pretty centrally located with easy motorway access, which means its easier for most folks to get to without excessive travelling times and costs.

Easter weekend I think works for a lot of people too as most folks have 2 bank holidays off work, making for a longer weekend and more likelihood that people can either get down for one of the days, or for both days and still have some time left in the weekend to spend with family.

Downside of Easter, especially this year, is it will most likely be brass monkeys overnight, and the weather may not be as good as we have had over the last few years. Personally I think we have been extremely lucky with the weather on the last two meets - warm and sunny despite being Easter.

Don't get me wrong, I am up for trying new venues, but perhaps this year, especially if the organisation is going to be done by people not familiar with the pitfalls of setting up something like this, it may be just safer to go with something we know works well :-). If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Just my tuppenceworth. Its good to discuss this now before anyone starts making arrangements.

Anyone heard from Chris as to whether he is going to be involved in organising the meet this year, or is he happy to delegate it to other people to arrange?

Have heard a romour that spring drive / kidderminster will be the last weekend in may ( 31st may 1st june )

just wondering if anyone can confirm this as i need to book time of and organise cover for the shop.

That would be a great weekend as its a bank holiday so could have a extra day to recover :D

I'm kinda hoping that weekend may be the one too..... soooooo glad it wasn't an Easter weekend event this year as I think the weather pretty much everywhere was grim - certainly not good camping weather at any rate :D

At the moment, there is still nothing organised, regardless of the rumours.

As soon as anything's sorted it will be announced all over the place.

Unless you read it either on TC or the forums, from either Chris or one of the mods, then it aint true

Well I have booked the May weekend off anyway just in case.

Really need to catch up with the old school members and new ones before I leave the scene. Maybe they can talk me round

Gotta agree with Rich Daz.... you can't pack it in, the Long Jump at Kidd just wouldn't be the same for starters

Had to come back on the forums as this can't be allowed!

Daz, you have to stay in the scene. Your long jumps and hornet wrecking are my most enduring memories of the Kidd meets. Also, you inspired me to be nuts and try stupidly fast motors in stupidly bad vehicles (and breaking them in the process more often than not - 14.4v Thundershot is definitely your fault :P )!

Anyway, I shall be there if it happens

Well its just that times are hard at the moment and find it hard to spend quality time with my restos!

Need to offer all my odds and sods that I dont want to list on the net to you guys in person. Might be able to cobble together something suitably quick for the long jump though :)

What you need to do is bring them all to this mythical Spring Drive we're all talking about and sell them there :D

Is there any news on the Spring Drive, or is it going to be a Summer Drive? I'm really keen to get out for a weekend with the cars, but I'm beginning to lose hope of it happening :D .
