I have one of those horrible feelings if it goes ahead with my luck its bound to clash with either my holiday mid May to begining of June, a weekend break at beginning of July or the crawler nationals on 13th July. Fingers crossed Im wrong, its a weekend I would hate to miss.

Well I think we can safely say it's not going to be a 'Spring Drive'

Only really leaves August BH weekend now

Which is only 3 months away

It would be nice to know if/what is in the pipeline

Posted

To my knowledge, there's nothing in the pipeline and nothing booked for August BH.

As soon as anything is known, it'll be announced in the forums

You are all obviously craving for a good meet up! Get your selves booked into the Tamiyaclub off road championship in september and try to win your selves a trophy with Tamiyaclub off road champion on it!

Slight snag there, No such cars and I dont think that my schlesser buggy or my Support truck would be compedative against so super hoted up Durga :L

I think Kidd had a different charm to it as it was more to run your cars and maybe have a little friendly race, No timing and should one of you crash or spin then the other would wait for you to catch up and then carry on.

I see in your showroom you have a pair of Dakar Touaregs ! Well thats an off road car in my book - there has never been an opotunity that I have seen on Tamiyaclub before where you can win anything with Tamiyaclub on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I admit that Kidd was friendly racing - well so is this but the computer goes beep when you do a lap and the person with the most wins! The only difference is its a timed race and you have to marshall the next race.

I do not understand what everyone is afraid off! :D

Stunning progress  Not looking to blame anyone but it's frustrating for a lot of us.

If things aren't happening the way you want them to chap, you could always organise your own

OK before this topic stays dead and buried for another year, I am trying again  (it was down on page 3 of topics)

Are there any plans yet for the TC Easter Spring drive 2009 ? Last time I asked a month or more before the event was "due" to begin, only to be told that nothing much had been organised and that I was asking too late now and nothing could be organised before Autumn 2008. Well here we are in Winter with (once again) nothing organised and I wanted to get in early with my request so at least I would gain a clear conscience if nothing else

Where's Chris when you need him most?

Anyone?!

Cheers,

Alistair G.

The last time i spoke with Chris he said the track owners at Kidderminster had said that all people racing needed to be BRCA members to cover their insurance. So i think Kiddeminster may well be a distant memory now. :D

Well I would certainly be willing to cough up the 12 quid or whatever to be able to join the BRCA if necessary, just for the privilege of coming to the main TC meet of the year!

Cheers,

I too would pay the membership for a great weekend.

BRCA membership

Nice one! Well that's 2 punters, I would not miss the main TC event for the world, anymore one else willing to pay a relatively small (considering the fun we all have when we're there) "BRCA insurance fee" to support this great event?

Cheers,

Alistair G.

There was also a problem with toilet facilities as I recall - there was talk of organising Portaloos at one point, but not sure what the outcome was.

A couple of other sites were looked into, but none offered the "here's the keys, have a blast" kind of freedom that Kidd did.

Not sure if Kidd is a viable venue or not any more, will ask the question next time I chat to Chris.

At Kidd? There was a permanent toilet facility on the site. Surely it's still there?!

Or do you mean generally?

Please can you make sure that Chris gets in there with the request WAY ahead of time, preferably in the next few days, as last time I seem to remember that it turned out that the problem with Kidderminster 2008 was that Kidd. track was already booked and hence why that meant there was no event at all in 2008 :huh: !

Tell you what chap, you email him, express your concerns that he's not organising the events to your liking and let him know what you want and how you want it sorted.

I'm not his keeper and if he's not doing what you want, best it comes from you.

For the record, the Kidd problems were to do with new BRCA insurance rules they had bought in, plus the fact the toilet facilities could no longer cope with a 2/3 day event.

Another venue was partially organised, then THEY let TC down, nothing to do with it not being booked in time.

Alistair, surely you realise that Chris doesnt do this as a business, Tamiya Club is something he does in his spare time. Has gone out of his way on several occasions to prepare a meet which we all enjoy. Then because matters beyond his control force us not to be able to have a meet you complain and make suggestions for what he can do.

Can I make a suggestion...

Why dont you email Chris and ask if its ok with him for you to arrange the next TC meet, Im sure you can find it simple as you seem to have many suggestions and probably all the answers!

All the above things that happened were done away from the TC members and we had no knowledge of what was happening so of course we got frustrated at Chris as we just assumed that he ran everything. OK I see that he is only doing it when he can find any spare time. Fine. OK, I've been told. I didn't know. I'm just another punter who wants to enjoy the main TC meet.

As for answers of course I haven't got any I'm merely a vintage RC fan who liked the last TC main meet and wanted to know when the next one will be. I'm not trying to be a smart a**.

Jeez it's like I get grief everytime I raise this topic  . Do you know what? I don't think I'll flipping well bother in future at this rate.

Yours Frustratedly,

Alistair G.

Alistair its done away from members as the meet is not a given its just something that happened every year and at different times. How can you get frustrated at Chris! Look at the site he has put together, look at what you get as a subscriber (you are one??)

C'mon all. Calm it down a bit!

We would all dearly love a Kidd meet this year, but I guess it depends on availability, whether the toilets are fully functional, BRCA membership maybe...?

Might be worth getting one of the members who race at Kidd (trying to remember who does) to speak to the guys who run the track and find out the requirements / problems for us. If anyone here does race there (or knows who does) maybe they can start the process...

From there we could always contact Chris and see whether he has the time to try and sort this, if not maybe we can either allocate someone to do it, or maybe even form some sort of small group of users and/or mods to look into this and try to plan it. Any volunteers?

I can help out, but not got a massive amount of time during the day as the baby keeps me busy (plus housework - I'm a real house-husband you know... :P )

Chris has always seemed to manage a sunny weekend, so no promises if we sort it instead.

Anyway, could the mods let us know if it is acceptable to start some digging on this (contacting track etc on behalf of TC) and whether they and/or Chris want to be involved or even if they want to do it instead. Don't want to step on anyones toes...

As usual, just a thought.

@ Steve and Rich, would you be willing to join the BRCA to go to the main TC meet?

If so that brings that total so far from 2 to 4.

?

BTW how do I contact Chris? By the usual TC channels?

I think it's as important, if not more so, to find out who wouldn't be prepared to cough up 15 for BRCA membership - Personally, I would have no use for it outside that meet, and for some dads that bring their kids along to participate, it could be significantlly more than 15, especially if the wife wants to race too.

Some people have, in the past, commented that the 15 to join TC is prohibitive (for them) for a year's membership, even though it includes discounts etc, so spending 15 insurance to pay another 5 or whatever to go to a 2-3 day meet may be asking a bit much.

Chris can be contacted thru his front page, http://www.tamiyaclub.com/member.asp?id=1

I wouldnt join the BRCA if it was just for the use of a track for one weekend in a year that would be a waste of money... as fun as the TC meets are! I should however point out that I am a BRCA member but that is because I race at least once a week and it is compulsory to have membership for that.

Might be the highest priority to find out whether we actually need to do so to use the track. If we don't then it is beside the point.

I would consider doing so, but the down side is that the wife would also have to join as she likes to race (therefore 30 plus 2 x 4 tickets or thereabouts). We have a 2 year old, and I would have to think hard about paying out 38 quid for a single meet as if Evan (the toddler) is rough / can't cope etc then it would be 38 for a very short meet...

Bearing in mind that we also have to travel from South Wales and probably have to stay in a hotel as camping with such a wee bairn is not the best plan.

Bear in mind that if the BRCA rules apply, anyone coming track-side would need membership, regardless of whether they race or not. This would apply for mechanics/marshalls etc. Basically all attendees should have the cover. That would be a right pain in the backside.

Anyway, still can't get a track on who I know that attends the track throughout the year. Will try to remember and drop him a line...
