Hi guys, I have just picked up a rolling chassis E-maxx of the bay as I thought It would be a laff.

Now there are no electrics in the thing so Im now thinking what way to go?

Is this an ideal oppertunity to stick a brushless set-up in it? Will the cost cripple me? Should I just buy the standard can running gear?

Does anyone have any experience with these things?

Thanks for you help in advance guys and I hope you are all well

I don't expect everyone to agree with me by any means, but........

I had an E-Maxx for about a year and it was fun. IMO, they are kind of a pain in the butt to work on. There are a number of general upgrades needed for running stock. I broke: bulkheads, shocks and driveshafts. Also, my EVX (1) was kind of funny about working with some batteries. I liked my E-Savage better, but I recently traded it for a Super Clod.

If you go brushless, you will really need to beef up the drivetrain.(assuming you have the older model, the new one is different)

I think maxxes are very cool, but you have to sink some money into them before they're dependable.

the stock electronics are pretty good, a brushless wiould be killer. but like danbox says, you need to beef it up.

bare minimum, aluminum bulkheads, Robinson racing ring gears, aluminum skids that help keep the bulkheads together.

Thanks guys. I recon on brushless, otherwise i think ill get bored of it being slow after the fairly quick savage. Either that or sell it all on and buy a Savage again. Or buy brushless and beef it up. Or trade it for a penguin bar and a sand Scorcher. God Im indecisive....

Anyone got a spare brushless setup?

does it involve 2 nuns and mint sauce? ;)

ryan, you are a very baaaaaad boy.

i've got an emaxx and i love it. the stock motors are fast and the only thing i've broken are the drive-shafts.

i saw a guy stuff a single mamba max in one, and OH MY GOD. i seriously doubt the drive-shafts in his lasted the day, but you can upgrade to the all steel center and axle drive-shafts. costs an arm and a nun, er i mean leg though.

OH MY GOD.

Thats the noises I like to hear... Think I need a brushless. And when you say "fast", how fast compared to a similar sized nitro truck? Gotta keep up with my mates yknow!

i'm not sure how fast compared to a nitro because i haven't seen a similar nitro in action recently, but compared to my stock emaxx it was just sick and wrong? sick and right? definitely fast and really cool. i think it was the mamba max 7900 he had.

i keep scraping the rear bumper off mine pulling wheelies and its just stock. he was pulling wheelies at any speed and not just from a dead stop either. he had a hard time keeping it rubber side down but he didn't really care, so he was happy. i would think a suspension upgrade with RPM parts and steel cvd's would be an immediate necessity. otherwise it would be broken in a couple of hours with that kind of power.

have you got some pix yet?

Ill try and find the link off ebay. I think a standard brushless motor will do the trick, then CVDs and the ali shock supports. and maybe the ali skid plate. Not going for pretty, just to bash without guilt of running a noisy/ messy nitro in a public place.

What do you guys think of this:

I paid 100 quid and he says its in good condition with the spare bodyshell. I recon it was quite a good deal, but It might be for sale if I dont like it!

looks like a good truck and doesn't appear to be abused. wish mine was still that pretty.

i like those tires better than the tractor tires on the standard rtr. very nice upgrade. you're gonna love it. <_<
