El Mexican 1 Posted February 7, 2005 So much talk was heard about the new re-release Hornet that there wasnt really someone who commented about the differences --if any-- between the original and the new one? Is the new one better handling? Has some special reinforced bracket to improve some part? Has a redesigned part?
Mervyn 1 Posted February 7, 2005 The small changes I have noticed is 1)the new kits don't have a mech speed controller. They either don't have any,or come with a electronic one. 2)the new body set has a rear window, the original did not-to provide cooling to the resister,as there isn't one,so not needed. 3)the decal sheet now has a few differant sponsor decals. Apparently Tamiya no longer has rights to some of the originals, plus there are now silver decals for the roll cage. 4)the gear case no longer has that little tab on the front of it. 5)the kingpins are screwed in from above, originals were held in place by a grub screw in the steering arm. Other than that, looks pretty much the same.
kevinthegerbil 1 Posted February 7, 2005 Also the new Hornet Chassis is moulded slightly different as the original chassis had an extra part cut out of the top of the battery compartment for the 'humped' 7.2v battery pack. The new chassis has only half of the cutout.
El Mexican 1 Posted February 8, 2005 So you cant fit "hump" packs in the new Hornet?
Ray Lynch 0 Posted February 8, 2005 Correct, the hump pack will no longer fit in the new chassis.
