I have a set of Imex G-Hawg tyres for my Wild Dagger and they don't appear to be very well balanced.

I am running it at 14.4V but when I get above a certain speed the tyres wobble/vibrate uncontrollably to the point it looks like it will shake it self apart. Also when driving its actually lifting the worst tyre of the ground and I only have the stock shocks. Running without tyres and the wheels seem ok and its quite good at drifting on the carpet\wooden floor.

Does anybody have any experience of these tyres, have I just got a bad set (I got them in a deal with the car) would I be better off getting some stock tyres.

These tyres would seem better for crawling as they grip very well, so if anybody wants to swap then that would solve it. They have only had one runs so are like new.

That's normal for Imex. You ought to see the wobble one of my TLT's gets going with All Terrains, which are an inch bigger, and that's with a 540 on 7.2 volts.

But, 14 volts on stock shocks?. What are you thinking?

The new molding of these is a lot better than the old but it's not to say that they couldn't be unbalanced.

are the tires glued to the rims? if not their just getting out of shape due centrifigal force at speed. .

Not glued yet but you can see that the two halves don't line up very well so guess thats the problem. I have other tyres that balloon at speed but nothing like the vibration with this.

Stock shocks are there as I haven't got round to getting any better ones but it does work fine with them.

If you're running 14.4v then you really do need to get some proper 4" shocks on there - I found my dagger difficult to keep in a straight line with a BZ on 7.2v :D

I've not heard that G-Hawgs could be imbalanced, but I guess if they're designed for crawling or low-speed work then it wouldn't cause much of a problem.

I use Ho Bao Monsters on my 14.4 Dagger - they're very very soft and the grip is just phenomenal. I don't know how much life I'll get out of them tho, and they are very wide, so if you go that route you'll need some axle wideners. I used Junfac's alloy wideners, but the sleeve nuts have no nyloc, so they spin off all the time... It seems the Dagger was never designed for 14.4v and as soon as you try to step outside of the Standard Wall of Safety you encounter these kinds of problems - but that's half the fun of custom RC anyway :D

I think the answer is obvious. your using 14.4 voilts in something designed for 7.2. when the wheels spin up, they are expanding from their bead and becomeing inbalanced. Glue your tires and most of your problems will go away.

They don't expand like some tyres and they also have foams in so its less likely to expand. Don't really want to glue at the moment as I am not keen on the wheels and might get some beadlock ones.

My clod tyres balloon at 14.4V but they seem quite well balanced at that speed. Guess it depends on the quality of tyre. Even at low speed just turning a few revs over you can see the wobble.

they arev a heavy tire, designed for traction and not speed

Also

Foams do not stop ballooning, the foam is to prevent sagging sidewalls

14.4 volts and unglued tires [no, make that big meats with big honking treads] on stock shocks?????

its a complete mystery to me, mate. should be smooth as glass. :P

Yep I guess they do have quite a big tread. Doesn't seem that much bigger than the standard but what the badword :P

Anyway I don't really want to glue them as they probably aren't the best tyre for what I need and even then on the worst two there is a 3mm gap between the two halves where they haven't been aligned correctly in manufacturing, I suspect I will still have problems. Its the only tyres I have problems with as I haven't glued some other cars at 14.4V and they don't wobble :)

What would people recommend are the stock ones ok?

Best street/dirt/all round bashing tyres IMO are Proline Masher 2000 - 2.2inch variety for the stock rims. They need gluing, but the grip is so much better than the stock tyres, which are too hard and seem best suited to snow or long grass.

I would also highly recommend ditching the stock shocks and getting some shock towers and half decent 4" shocks (T/E maxx ones are cheap and easy to find). That way you will be able to use all the power you have with much better handling.

be kinda careful with the amount of grip you get with those prolines and 14.4volts! if you get too much grip you might just launch the thing into low orbit. :D

i'm impressed with the stock tires although i'm not running anywhere near the power you are, but they have some nice grip and on the right surface those spikes provide a bit of slippage and squirreliness that really appeals. i had to glue mine eventually though as they were slipping badly and the rubber band trick just didn't cut it.
