Hi all , just need a bit of info on the colour / finish of the original machine screws for the Bruiser / Mounty chassis. In particular the 3x12 screws - are they originally a 'silver' colour ? or are they the yellow / gold colour like most vintage screws. I am building a Bruiser and a Mounty chassis ,and i want to use the original type of screws / bolts , and i have a few new bags of Clodbuster 1 screws . There is a mix of 'yellow / gold' machine screws and some 'black' screws and some 3x12 'silver' machine screws in these bags , so if the original Bruiser / Mounty 3x12 screws were 'silver' colour then i can use these , if not i will need to source others - but where from ?. I have checked my stocks and some references ,and can only find 'silver' colour 3x12 machine screws used in kits like Mudblaster / Beetle etc .Was a 'yellow / gold' 3x12 machine screw ever made? - Thanks in advance - Kev :(

yeah they're the old yellowy coloured ones, definitely not black. They go silver or rusty when handled.

Are you sure they are yellowy?

The part number for them is 2000049 which comes in a number of kits including the Egress (its one of the only ones not to be Ti) and Clod and all the ones I have are silver and they are brand new. (None of my yellow ones have gone silver (maybe rusty). The 3x10mm could be mistaken as the 12mm and that is yellowy as is the 3x15mm. I thought Tamiya did this so it was more obvious it was a different screw and you wouldn't be wondered why it was too short/long.

The 3x12's are silver in color and not like the other gold colored screws. I just confirmed this by looking at a sealed bruiser screw bag.

Thanks Jim , Mountain and Willy . I agree that the 3x12 are silver after checking through .It seems the 3x12 is silver in the Mudblaster / MB / BF screw packs too, so my Clod screws can be used in the Bruiser chassis build ,and be correct - excellent - thanks again :(

just go buy a 100-box of stainless dome button hexheads... they look much better on the chassis :D

Tamiya original flanged 3mm nuts still can't be beat though.
