A Question On The F103 Gt

Recommended Posts

This maybe a stupid question but i can only fit up to a 17t pinion gear on my F103 GT but the instuctions say in the hopup section that you can use up to 24t pinion gear. Can anyone shed some light on this problem.

I don't own one, but I've had a look in the online manuals, and it appears that on page 15 at the hopups for the pinions (left lower corner) it only goes up to 20t, and you'll need another sput gear to run it probably (see the hopups above the pinions on the same page).

(The manual was from a porsche 911 gt1, so pagenumbers may differ if you have another kit, but to decribe it it's the last page of building it, where you put the body on as a last step).

That's with the optional 0.4 Module spurs and pinions. Those don't work with the original spur, as the teeth are different sizes.

Kawada makes a nice little Teflon spacer to replace the bearing in the diff that allows you to use different brand of gears than the Tamiya ones. It good if you have a LHS that has a lot of gears for 1/12th cars. The only down side is the Teflon spacer does wear out and needs to be replaced from time to time.
