I am in the middle of a twin detonator/wild dagger project. It came with a mech speed controller but I would like to to replace it with an electronic unit(one that runs 2 motors). I also want to upgrade the motors. I see that tamiya makes a unit for 2 motors but its limited to just sport tuned motors, I would like to maybe step up to the dirt tuned series or maybe the super stock motor series. Any thoughts?

I replied to a similar question a while back, this should help. I really need to get myself another Detonator one day, they are such fun trucks :)

There is an excellent guide on the Team Novak site on how to do dual motors and at the end it explains the load on ESC's, I found this when I was shopping for a speed control for my Twin Detonator..

Basically if you are running two 27 turn motors in parrallel you need a speed control that can handle one 13 turn. If they are in series then it goes the other way, two 27 turn motors in series is like runing one 54 turn motor.

Good Luck!

the dirt tuned is only a 27turn can any way isnt just has more torque! so should be fine, i just baught a 10t single esc off the bay for not much , i think about 25quid with postage, and this will run 2 motors at 20 turns a peice! there are other options out there

I use the Tamiya twin esc in my TA03 with two dirt tuned motors and it runs fine.

In my dagger i use an Mtroniks super E truck with two 15 turns. It takes two 11 turn motors on 7.2v and two 15 turn on 14.4v,and its waterproof,so perfect for a Dagger

I can second the super e truck by mtroniks. I use one in my txt-1 with 2 550 motors @ 14.4 volts and its perfect
