I'm sometimes racing my TA05R & TB02-TRF in the Austrian Tamiya Cup series class GT2 & and race some Club races.

I used to race much more a few years ago (all Tamiya Cup races from 2000 - to 2004 class Stock & GT2, HPI Cup, Club Races, ), but time's the problem and i want to have more time for my family.

So i'm driving my Rally cars, my Hilux, XC-Chassis and Tamtech Gear Buggies for fun on sunday walks or for some photo sessions

for Tamiyaclub Photo Competitions.

I am a basher, I have never raced, I want to have a go with on-road, I even bought a TA05 for the novice silver can class, but I just haven't got myself organised yet, I still need to get either a 2.4ghz radio or some extra frequencies.

I am also very interested at trying out in the 2.2 crawler class. Just need a rig!

Bash with mates, which is manually racing around a make shift track on road.

Occasionally go off road and chase the dog around a field.

Tamiya M03

ABC Genetic

F103

All of these run the Silver can 540s classes. Still very fun

Racer and basher

I race a Cyclone Hara in the local swiss DTM championships, typically the expert class.

This sucks 90% of my rc time... the rest, I bash with my VLB, Blizzard, TT01Rally (NEW!), Boomerang, TrailBlazer, TLT1, Mini Cooper, Yokomo SSG-SD Drift, ... I also fly gliders once in a while, as well as make waves with my Wave Chopper, I have a robbe rainbow sailboat in the works... etc... etc...

I'm mostly a basher. All my off-road stuff (which makes up about 90% of my runners collection) is bashed, not as often as I'd like tho. I find bashing alone can be a bit dull and my regular mates aren't into RC at all, so I only bash with the TC posse every few months. 'Tis why I'm hoping to get a good patch for a regular monthly Bristol meet

I also race 1:10 touring at my local club, WWMCC. During the winter we race indoors on carpet, the tracks change every week, and there's a wide range of skills but not a huge number of entrants, so the senior and junior classes race together under 27T Stock rules. Basically the rules are foam tyres, no additives and 27T Stock motors (not silvercans). Chassis is open, so I use a Corally RDX which is absolutely superb - if a little awkward due to US bolt sizes

During the summer the club races outdoors on Fridays, which is usually difficult for me as I'm either working or out 'larging it up' somewhere. One day I'll make an effort to go give it a try, although it will mean buying new tyres and changing all the chassis settings!

I'd love to race buggies or stadium trucks but there aren't any off-road clubs near me that run 1:10 electric.

I used to be a racer years ago when me and 3 mates started up the oswestry buggy club but now i just tend to abuse my revo whenever i get a chance. dont even get to run my tamiyas as dont get much of a chance.

Bash, with whatever I have handy and in running condition. At home it's mainly my Blazing Star, Avante (Dynavante), TLT Rockbuster, Chevy S10 or TA02 Integra Rally (our road is pretty rough). Out in the open I run my E-Maxx, and at work I run the Wild Willy 2 and, more recently, a couple of drifters - TA03F Skyline GTR and TA05 Mercedes DTM.

I also spend a lot of time keeping the kids cars running - Grasshopper (my original one!), Hornet, Baja Champ, Clod, VLB, or the TL01 Scooby-drifter at work.

Sometimes I run a Tank or two, my King Hauler, or whatever I have recently restored, bought or unpacked out of storage - the most recent being the Solar Eagle.

Haven't raced in about seven years now. I raced on a flat carpet oval in Duluth MN in the early 90s with an RC12L and later a 10LSO, and then dirt oval with a Traxxas Rustler in the mid 90s (surprisingly competitive truck for oval racing). In 2001, I tried to get into a M-chassis class at a track in Minneapolis (indoor carpet road course) but I didn't like the attitude of the track manager; he was too concerned with "serious" racing, so I quit after a few races.

These days, I just bash. I'd be up for a "fun" race though; that Wild Willy race video looks like a hoot.

Long-time basher, but raced my M03 Mini Cooper last weekend and had a blast. Qualified and finished 2nd and caught the bug something fierce. I just ordered a TA05 and will be racing novice touring car as well as the Mini Cooper class now.

Basher up until last weekend. Usually run a Dark Impact at one of two local off road tracks with three mates who also have either DI's or Gravel Hound.

Last week though, me and a mate took our DI's to our first club meet and ran in a standard 540 silver can race. Did pretty well and I won two of the heats.

Unfortyunately we were a bit unprepared for how long the day was going to be and only had two batteries each and no charger there.

It was fun but I can't see myself giving over a whole Sunday to racing every week or two weeks. Might just be once in a while and bashing the rest of the time.

Problem with bashing is I get bored quick. It would be different when you are in the car but with RCs after 5 min I lose interest in running the car. On a racetrack even when you're by yourself you got a goal. Make that corner better, shave off a few secs etc. Keep my attention for a while.

You could say neither.

I used to race regularly but as I run the club as it's busy I don't have the time any more.

When I do get the chance I race Pro10 or a 4WD mini in the Recoil class.

I spend more time bashing, but usually at TC members bashes, it's boring on your own.

i have never raced only bashed i would like to race but haven't got round to it.

i hope one day i will though but i haven't found anywhere in the south east aswell though

i really get a kick out of watching the bash videos from TC members. it looks really cool to have a group of tamiya fans out for a bit of fun with their favorite runners! trail, beach, dirt lot, parking lot drifting, whatever. i would like to schedule something like that where i live, but i just haven't found anybody very close yet. bummer. in the meantime, keep those vids rolling! :D

this is just a personal thing, but i think too much focus on racing tends to scare people away from the hobby. i have certainly seen the attitude that if you don't race, you are not serious and you might as well not bother with the hobby at all. i nearly didn't get into RC because of that attitude and most of the hobby shops in my old town were that way. that is a large part of why TC is so cool. there is something here for everybody from amateurs with their 1st model up to NIB collectors. RTR, kit, vintage, runners, racers, whatever. how cool is that???? :D

Race with a TA05 and sometimes a M03M (but not exactly that seriously). Bash everything else.

Both are a laugh - just so long as people don't get too anal about the racing. They are only toy cars at the end of the day (lights fuse, stands back .............. ;-)

the emphasis is on fun whether bashing or racing, as i said at beginning of this thread i race as thats what i like doing but would never look down on antone who doesnt as its down to personal preference

I use to race back in 2000 and 2001. I did okay, but found myself getting too serious about it and started not enjoying the hobby itself. So I have only been bashing since then.

But now I have a Nitrage, and I am really thinking of getting back into racing.

The nearest competiton track is an hour away though, and a $4 toll.

With a SUV that gets 15 MPG, not to much in a hurry to do it.

But a local track is really thinking about doing competition.

Friends of the shop are also building tracks on there land, and they are thinking of doing a 3 track series races.

If they end up doing this, I will compete then.
