I've had this idea in my head for a little while now :P

My TXT-1 is currently set up with dual 550 motors and a 14.4 volt esc, kind of stock e-savage/e-maxx specifications.

The truck has bags of torque, plenty of power and good acceleration. But even with 550 power is still lacks top speed, because of the gearing. Smaller trucks with 23 turn 540''s can easily keep up with it on open dirt. The thing is although it's a big, top heavy truck, it's still stable at higher speeds - so in open areas the truck lacks the "fun factor" that it has in confined areas.

Because of the weight, especially loaded up with 2 running batteries, going to larger pinions will almost certainly effect the torque - which is not something I want to loose!

So, I'm thinking it's time for Brushless Power ;)

I've been looking at the options, and it seems that the Novak HV-Maxx is the common choice. It looks like a good setup, and novak have a great reputation for good truck esc's.

So i guess that's my sensible choice :)

But I've also got an unproven idea - fit 2 Castle Sidewinder esc's wired up with a Y lead, and have 2 5700 kv motors! :)

Whether that is just a recipe for ruined gears I'm not sure. My little pumpkin seems to be handling its single 5700 kv motor just fine, and I think 2 of them would push the TXT-1 along pretty nicely!

What do you guys think? 2 Castle Sidewinder setups will cost about the same as a single HV-Maxx. Duel Brushless sounds cool, I just don't know if it will work! ;)

that dual brushless idea is just awesome. Also if you wait a while castle is coming with the monster max.

They're a little more expensive than the sidewinder, but you could also try 2 of the Novak sport systems. Maybe a pair of 13.5's or 10.5's........ :)
