I used to race a clio when they first came out at my local club,it was a fantastic racer much better handling than the ta01 and ta02,a much simpler transmision which for tamiya is quite something, get the volvo you will love it,personly i would try and get a clio shorter wheelbase....[:P]

I mean.... How is traction wise... It will be for my brother , I have a Bmw 4wd and It takes of very quick, Is it hard to take of realy quick because it is a fwd? (Traction) is what I am looking for.

I want to race it[:D]

I have a 850BTCC that i have raced a couple of times. The traction can be a problem if the carpet isnt clean. The carpet i ran on was far from clean! On a parkinglot on asphalt theres no problem of cource. Fwd requires a different driving style, letting of the throttle just before a corner, lets the rear out in a nice way and it´s very stable on the straights. I really like my Volvo but i need some hop-ups for some more speed. I kick the Kyosho behinds on the track in any case[;)] But anyway, a good carpet and some inlays in the wheels, and traction shouldnt be a big problem!

also have a FWD here... traction is not much of a problem as long as you got the right tyres (even without slipper clutch), just make sure you don't lock up the differential completely if you plan on turning.

Pat*1, for the clio's short wheelbase, did tamiya just flipped the stock rear arms, or did they use the TA01 rear arms?

akemag, what kind of hop ups do you have in mind? Of all that Tamiya has for the FF01, I'm missing the carbon gear shafts.

I was thinking of using a peugeot maxi racing dirt oval. In my head I see it would be nearly incapable of losing the tail or spinning out. I might even use slick type tires on the rear just to see if it can turn any better. I think it would be a great experiance to race it. I'd use those tamiya pin spike tires used on most tamiya buggies, specifically the ones on my TL01B. Plus you can carve some sweet reverse donuts.

How about Rally racing? We like to put rally tires on our cars and Drive them on dirt.. (not thick just dusty roads) Will Fwd be good for something like that? I know the Mini's have Fwd and they are Very good in dirt... How would the Volvo be?

Hi there

Irenl in answer to your question about the wheelbase lengh, tamiya uses the same parts for the long wheelbase ff as they do the short wheelbase, the rear bulkhead can be moved on different locating holes,[:D]

pat*1, I assume the different locating holes are in the rear bulkhead, no? I can't really find them. Reason I asked is because the FF01 runs the same front and rear arms as the TA02 (sans the slot in the 02's arms to bring the dampers closer to the rear damper tower), and the 02 used the TA01 rear arms to make a TA02S.

akemag, not really selling, but I'll let you know in March, after I'm settled in Asia.

as for racing the FF01 down dusty fields, there's no problem with that either.. it'll handle, especially with the rear toe blocks set to toe out.

Front wheel drive is great and a totally new experiance. Pulls out of the corners really well, is incredibly stable and very forgiving if you fluff it up which is a feat in itself. Takes a little getting used to but is very easy to master. Just like driving a real car as the characteristics are the same. Same goes for a Porsche 959 thats been converted to FWD because the rear gear box decides to strip gears. Raced that a couple of time with great success but never a win. Actually 4WD or FWD it never won. Maybe l should have gone for RWD?
