Hi all,

We are arranging a meet in South Wales..

Dates to be agreed - post your free dates on here

Planned location is Ogmore (Google maps link - The whole area is the car park and bashing spots) quite near to Bridgend

Plus points:

Lovely sand - My first real E-Maxx test was here

Pebble beach sections (hysterical to see large trucks flying across it)

Great rocks for crawling (See the Video's in my showroom of the Clods crawling) EDIT: Lost the video's from TC - Can't find them to re-upload yet...

Grass areas for bashing (including humps)

Tarmac (just watch for cars) - There is some gravel though on the tarmac

Views and fresh air (plus the sea for those brave loonies)

Toilets on hand

Ice cream vans and burger vans

Bad points:

Can get busy on hot days (never caused a problem for me, but crowds gather to watch)

They have started charging for parking (couple of quid for the whole day)

The Severn Bridge tolls for those in England (now 5.30 to get into Wales, but free to flee)

So, anyone up for it?

Steve

May 3,4,17,18,31

June 1,14,15,28,29

postin this from work as my pc is still in quarantine :D

Following the Bristol bash I had a look at my TT Gear Hotshot last nite - not good news. The chassis has snapped at the front after a bit of a head on - no problem i thought i'll just order a new one. WRONG !. Check this out - the chassis is not avalable as a spare part from what i can see !!! Hmm where to go from here ? buy a new kit ? bit expensive me thinks.

I'm good for most dates, so input from others....

Ouch on the Hotshot! :D

Makes me glad my main basher is a Traxxas now. Broke the chassis on that at the previous meet and it wasn't available either. Contacted Traxxas and they sent me a free one!!! I suppose you could contact the UK importer for Tamiya, or maybe one of the HK sellers (like Stella) to see if they can help

Mind you, due to having damaged my back I still haven't even unloaded the car :D. No idea on the state of anything...

Mid to end of May is good for me. Not the 3/4 weekend, others should be fine. No idea for June as I haven't set my calendar that far ahead yet!

Hopefully I'll have my new super crawler ready by then so I can give it a pre-nats testing on the rocks. Since I've moved to Bristol I haven't found a good rocky area yet...

You will love the rocks there. Wish I could find the video's to give an idea. Still looking......

I'll ask Rich if there are any good spots for crawling in Bristol. They did go to a spot before, but not sure if it has been closed off / changed

Cheers Lemming - those rocks look oresome! I just hope all my crawler parts arrive in time for the test-run... I definately want to get some testing underway prior to arriving at the nats (so I don't look like a complete amateur).

hey, crazy idea,

but i was at the bmx track in keynsham, (broke the blaster again, but lets not talk about that) and i thought that after the "CiderBashers Beach Bash 2008", how about a little buggy race day?

2wd and 4wd, 23Turn limit, so we get plenty of runs in. should be a bit of a laugh.

what say you cider brethren?

I think it would be a good idea to bring a little order to the chaos, Matisse :P

At the Bristol bash we all brought lots of similar vehicles but didn't really run them all together. I don't think it would be a bad idea if we had one or two specific races or events to play at as well as some general fun bashing.

A buggy race would be excellent - we could mark out a course on the sand (possibly involving dunes too..? (jumpers for goalposts)) and all have a race.

An M-chassis race would be fun too if the tarmac is suitable.

If we have a brief chat & organisation when we get there then we can all save some battery packs for the races

Hi all,

Sorry for the delay. Been out of action lately with a stuffed back ;)

Anyway, as to Sand races - could be awesome! A fair bit of the sand is covered at high tide, and then uncovered at low tide. Means it is more solid rather than soft sand (and beware anyone with expensive electrics!

The beach is superb for racing on as it is hard enough to give grip, but still enough movement for interesting turns and rooster tails if you get it right.

On another plus side, 10 mins around the corner is Merthyr Mawr - Sand dune city!!!!!!!! Soft sand, big hills etc. You can cross the river (shallow at low tide - sandy river mouth) to get there as well, but a bit of a haul that way.

Anyone with a 4x4 (reasonable ground clearance) will also love watching them scuttle across the pebble areas. That was the first place I properly tested the brushless jugg. Looked like an insane puppy!

Can't wait to see Suzy's Draggin getting up and personal with the rocks too. Should be a nice test (and Mad Ax as well if he manages to get his finished).

Anyway, how are we looking for dates? I'll let you guys and gals thrash it out as I'm pretty flexible to be honest (except my back :o )

Any weekend after this one is good for me ;)

I have now got my crawler motors, bearings and of course axles, am still waiting on some servo mounts and servos so couldn't say whether my crawler will be ready for testing...

C'mon mate, get it ready! :P

If the weather holds, I might pop to Ogrmore with some cars on Sunday/Monday and try to get some snaps of the area and terrain to give people an idea of what to expect

All the best for now

OK Folks, back online now 8-)

re dates I've been through all the postings here and it looks as though everyone can make SUNDAY 1 JUNE.

How does that suit you ? post replies on here and we can hopefully agree a date that's good for everyone.

I've been in touch with the Importers re the Tamtech Hotshot chassis and they've had to order it from Japan - may take 6-8 weeks though :D

Not got anything that's waterproof at the mo, so looks like I've got a bit to do - better buy some balloons.........

Hope your backs better soon Steve.

June the 1st is not good for us, (slaps head, Doh!) :D . Off to Twickers to watch the rugby on the Saturday and friends have invited themselves over to stay the night after. If we could just encourage them to leave early/or not stay!

Would not want to invite them as the last time they were over while handling one of my Airguns decided to point in the direction of Kaz (says he has used guns before, please feel free to use and short descriptive term you like, I DID) :) !

If that is the best date for every one else, no worries, I'll just look forward to the pics and vids!

I was so hoping to give my Subaru Lunch Box its first outing and bash our Nitro's.

Sorry to be a pain Matt'un'Kaz

PS, Please all tell her that a Mini is what she really wants for her Birthday (any other suggestions welcome)!!!

Posted

OK then, more suggestions? Possibly have the next bash over Bristol or Yeovil way again if it is easier for people to take time out on a day. :P

I'm having a driving / camping / walking trip around the north coast of Scotland from the 10th to 17th in a bright orange Land Rover Defender G4 (need a scared emote), but other than that period I'm free.

Mini's rock! The wife loves driving hers more than any other vehicle except her TLT.

Still reckon your lovely lady wants an E-Maxx though :P Got an RC18T here that would suit a brushless setup perfectly if the mini idea fails B)
