It's difficult to say what could cause it without looking, but the easiest way to find out is to gradually take bits out until it works.

It sounds like it's the front gearbox, so begin by removing the propshaft and see if the back end turns. If that's fine, take out the front dogbones and see if either diff outdrive will turn or if the diff functions as it should. If the diff is fine then it's something in the box itself; if the diff doesn't work either then it could be the diff itself is mounted wrong and is seizing up.

Open up the gearbox, check all the bearings or bushes are mounted in the right place, make sure all the shafts are located properly. If you're using plastic bushes then make sure they aren't worn so badly the shafts twist. Try to isolate which individual gear is not turning - test them all as you re-assemble. It could even be a small bit of swarf or grit got stuck to one of the gears when you reassembled and is preventing the gears from turning.

Seek, and ye shall find B)

yeh i think thats they way to go i did give it that approach yesterday but i could not find the fault. if i take the shaft out the front still will not turn once i attach the bottom panal?

I have the alloy prop and full ball raced all round?....

its somthing stupid i know it?... but its just finding what is? its so strange i was fitting the hopup adjustable front and rear surspension and adjustable tie rod set as i am going throught ties like a good'n!

cheers

I had the same problem with my Rising Storm.

I had a blast with it at Clumber Park, and after getting home, didnt really have my domestic head on when it came to cleaning it.

Unfortunatley, i stripped the car down a little too much and the mud and grit that was on the OUTSIDE was now INSIDE!

Needless to say, i got some muck around the rear diff and it took ages to remove it, i used a nice soft paintbrush to clean the teeth on the pinion/spur/diff but every time i thought i had nailed it, i had missed a bit.

mmmmmmmmmm nice crunchy gearbox!

You really do need to watch out cos little bits of grit CAN get everywhere!

I agree with Kingpin and the best way to get that out is to use an old tooth brush and some dialetric cleaner very similar to the ones that are used to clean motors as they are a grease and dirt repelent, Take your time or if your lazy just get a new diff gear. Also note the orientation of the diff in the car as the TT01 diffs if memory serves me correctly are one way only.

Best Wishes

yup, i just made that same mistake 2 days ago. if you put the diff in backward everything locks up.
