Thats incredible - it looks like they have just taken a complete TL-01 kit and made copy moulds of the parts and the body.

The guy selling them on ebay should be reported to Tamiya, I'm sure they would lodge a complaint with ebay. That kind of activity doesn't do any of us any favours [V].

Its not as if the ebay seller is selling the kits particularly cheaply. By my calculations with delivery they are about 85GBP - about the same price as buying the genuine article from Fusion last time I looked.....

Those flouro wheels look total cack!!

The clear chassis is pretty cool though!!

I see the seller is even calling it a TL-01!!

Surely Tamiya have the copyright on that chassis designation??

You would think if ModelBau were official Tamiya stockist then Tamiya could 'lean' on them pretty heavy not to carry the stock. What gets me though is if they are going to copy models, why copy the scoobies !!! Copy comething decent for a change that we can at least rip a few parts off [;)]

Interesting that the second of DJTheo's links to the TL-01 buggy - is this basically the version of the TL-01 that Tamiya are calling the TL-01RA for the new scooby release, with long arm suspension and pin spike tyres perhaps?

Also is the TL-01 still available as a current kit from Tamiya? Was looking on the Fusion site and all the current models with 4WD seem to now be on the "economy" TT-01 chassis......

Now if they sold a TL-01 clear chassis as spares, I would be ordering one, to put into practice Twinset's ideas - one strip of EL wire and it would be groundlit perfectly [8D]

according to the description this lad has been selling them for over two years. I doubt this alot though as we probably would have seen them before. it also looks like he says they are rtr.

i'd say this lad bought old molds off tamiya(like said happened in the tamiya book) and started making his own

But like twinset said that clear chassis has potential, and i think it looks cool. but the rest of it looks a bit **** i wouldn't trust it compared to original tamiya stuff. the radioset is a cheap futaba knock- off aswell. i do think this should be brought to tamiya's attention aswell as futaba's. i dont think anyone wants "cheap" knock offs on the market,Not that they are priced cheapily

TWINSET.....is chav pronounced chav or shav?

anyway, i think the clear parts serve a very practical purpose, they let you see if anything is going on wrong inside the car. especially handy on chassis with the more complex drivetrains that are totally sealed from sight and a bit hard to get to.

if you heard a weird noise on a drive...a quick peek will let you see if the gear mesh is botched or maybe a gear has stripped.

i've seen some of the clear dampers on eBay and thought, that was a nice idea as well. i'm always wondering if my shock oil is contaminated or low.

These seem to be coming from the same factory that is producsing the "knock-off" TL01's that are being sold under the "Kimax" brand by Centre-Point in the UK. Looks like the clear chassis is the latest development (I like it actually!).

Anyway, from what I've heard, the cars are very poor quality, and although they look like TL01s, the parts aren't 100% compatible.
