What do you all think. I have a feeling gr b celica on 4wd tamtech is going to come soon... wishful thinking? There has been way too many porsche kits coming out, and a 4wd tamtech onroader has to be on the way. Tamtech line has been based on classic off roaders and 12th scale, so everything just make sense to me. Even if Im wrong, I can only dream...

Booyeah, I would be all over that if it ever was a reality. B) But you know, the TTG Hotshot has a nice 4wd chassis, so your wishful thinking may not be so far fetched, they could easily do a Rothmans 959 aswell, ohhh man..... ;)

In the mean time I am hanging out for a Martini 935 :P

Like soooooo many others, now that the Mitsubishi Shogun has been Re're'd, I would like the Wrangler to be rereleased.

I hope they still do the Toyota Celica on the 2WD TTGear chassis...

Also, a new 1/12 on-road chassis with Lola/Tornado/Ford C-100/Porsche 956/Toyota body styles would be nice...

Since tamtech buggies and onroaders share the same tub, I could only hope tamiya releases a 4wd onroader as well. Since we havent seen many celica re re's, this will be perfect. 959 would be great, but I figured tamiya would have less trouble licensing with toyota than porsche. Celica also has less noticeable sponsor decals like 959's in your face rothman's. As long as it's red and white, it'll keep me happy without correct sponsor decals.

The re-re's have been focused mostly on the vintage buggies. Not sure if the Celica would be re-released while Tamiya can still re-re a few ultra popular buggies most of us collectors would flip out for - Like when they announced the HotShot, Frog, Hornet and Grasshopper the first time (drool).

It looks like Tamiya has been avoiding the SRB's, since they used a large amount of metal parts and would cost much more to re-release in their original form. The 'mostly plastic' buggies have been much easier for Tamiya to re-introduce.

Imagine what would happen if a few of these gems were announced:

Fox

Wild One

Fast Attack Vehicle

Boomerang

Monster Beetle

All have a strong potential to re-re since they use a minimum amount of metal parts.

Excuse my vague definition of Re Re. The whole tamtech line seems to be focused on re release, even if theyre not in exact form. Most were reincarnations of classics. 934 rsr, countach, and coming 935? Not sure if gtb ferrari was made back then. Even in 1/10 many cars came back in tt01 form, ie, bmw m3, benz 190e, lancia delta, ford escort, r32 taisan skyline...etc. Inever expect to see the exact chassis, but wouldnt want to either. Id rather have a classic shell on top of modernized chassis a la wild wily2 or lancia 037.

I'm behind this 100%. If changing a chassis would bring back the Sand Scorcher, Super Champ, Rough Rider etc - then I say 'go for it' - especially if they can keep the detail of the original cars i.e. allow many of the custom fabricated aluminum cages/bumpers to mount to a new chassis design. Tamiya basically accomplished this with the Ford F350 Hi-Lift. It may have been a new 3-speed truck design (instead of a re-re Bruiser etc), but many of the cool detailed parts of the drive train are right there.

Me too!!! I only have my shelf queen Fox which I would never run because the parts are too rare. If a re-re came out, I would build a runner in a heartbeat :D

I'd say that the Fox, 959 and Monster Beetle have to be good chances for re-re. I'm still pretty sure the Astute will get a re-release at some point.

Imagine a 959 re-re, with the body moulding improved so it doesn't fall apart when you look at it!

Used Foxes don't seem too hard to come by these days, and don't go for huge money. If you want a runner, you could do worse than to buy two or three complete used cars, and that'll keep you going with spares for some time.

NOS parts for the Fox seem to have come down in price lately. I've even seen an R parts set go cheap. About the only parts that are still expensive are the gold wheels and correct rear tires, and the body shell/wing.

I think it is awesome that Tamiya even does Re-Releases, I wonder what the response would be if they posted a Poll on the Tamiya site with a range of discontinued kits to vote on.

I would love a Wild One, a Toyota Pre-Runner would be quite nice too :D

Come to think of it, has any other manufacturer ever done re-re's ? I can't say I have ever heard of Kyosho doing one.

My money is on a re-re monster of the Monster Beetle/Blackfoot ilk. The chassis is back in production, there aren't that many extra parts needed to bring back the monster variety. However, we know there are licencing issues with the Monster Beetle shell, and it wouldn't make sense to re-re a Blackfoot shell with the Extreme still in production, so I would say the Mud Blaster is the prime suspect. The shell is in production already so we know there are no licensing or cost issues.

I'd love another Mud Blaster to relive the days of my youth

I'd also go crazy for a Fox. It was one of the best-looking buggies of its day and one I still remember lusting at from the inside of my Mini4wd boxes (when they used to have box-art of other models printed on the inside box bottoms). I'd buy one in a shot if it were re-re'd.

That said, I still think there is scope for a NEW scale buggy - not a DT02 or a DF03 or any kind of competition-buggy-wannabe, but something that looks very much like a 1:1 off-road buggy is supposed to. Please Tamiya, make one complete with a proper rollcage and window nets and driver figure and everything, just like the Wild One / HotShot.

:D

As was mentioned in another thread it appears to be the Japanese market that dictates the re-res so expect to see more futuristic buggy type things...

Although I'm not a big Mauri fan, I would buy a re-re Samurai in a second. I think it's the best vintage car they made ;)
