I've been racing at my local club using a TEU-101BK ESC with a stock 27 turn motor and GP 3300 batteries, which for the past few meets will overheat and cut out leaving me stranded. Now this I don't really have a problem with as such. I'll just swap my esc. However I'm planning to enter the local Eurocup in June and one of the regulations in the stock-open class is to use that ESC with a Tamiya sports tuned motor and i can use my GP 3300 batteries.

am I likely to have the ESC overheat and cut-out with this setup or have I just got a wrecked ESC?

What kind of stock motor are you using? Some racing stock motors have high amp draw and will thermal the esc. Sport tuned will be safe to use on the teu101. Not all 27 turns are made equal. Ive seen trinity co27's go as fast as 19turns.

Any decent stock class motor will draw loads more current than a 23T Sport Tuned. They are usually faster than the Sport Tuned as well. The ESC will handle the Sport Tuned no problem.
