I'm going to buy a Hi Lift kit (my first) to build whilst i'm off work and like a lot of people, I feel the 1.9" wheels and standard tyres are just not big enough.

I've seen people write on here about different parts that are required to fit wider/bigger wheels and wondered if anyone would be kind enough to detail precisely what I need to buy so I can have it all ready to make the changes during the build process.

One way is to use a Junfac shackle kit; http://www.junfac.com/shop/index.php?main_...mp;keyword=f350

Or you could make a body lift kit out of 3mm inner diameter alloy tube, and make what ever height spacers you want, you would just have to have the right length screws to allow you to fit it all together. http://www.modelfixings.co.uk/machine_screws.htm

The spacers would fit between the plastic radio plate and the frame, and the rear hinge>plastic mount.

Thanks Adam,

Are different axle shafts required to fit wider wheels or do they fit fine as standard? I've obviously misunderstood the issues in fitting larger wheels as I didn't know until now that clearance between the wheels and the body was a problem :/

An easier route is to stick with 1.9 wheel size and go for some bigger tyres.

Standard Hi-lift on the left

1.9 Mudslingers in the middle

1.9 Rock Crushers on the right.

Have fun in whatever you chose :-)

Superb Dready, thank you for the information and picture. Fitting larger tyres looks like the way to go, simpler and cheaper.

You'll notice the difference in performance too!

Rc4wd's tyres seem alot softer and give much better traction than Standard Tamiya ones.

The Crushers are great for climbing and look ace too!

Hi Fraser!

If you're going to use larger wheels on a F-350 you'll need to modify it. But if your High-Lift is a Toyota then you only need 2.2 hex-drive wheels and a nice set of tires of your choice.

Anyway, pictures of my truck (not yet finished) including a 1:1 comparison you can see them at:

Have a nice day!
