My CR-01 hasn't arrived yet and already I am planning the next model. (Don't tell her indoors  )

Looking at the Tamiya website, it suggests that when using the MFU on the F350 you should use a Futaba Attack 4WD, although some UK sellers are also offering with the Acoms Techniplus 4.

Are these the only two 4 channel sets that will work correctly with the MFU, or are there others?

Just shopping around now to price up my options.

Thanks.

First thing, I am glad that you have realised this hobby is addictive

Tamiya do recommend the Attack however it has been discontinued (Tamiya having purchased a huge amount for the RTR 3 speeds). It has been replaced with another radio but Futaba have used digital trims, and the MFU will not work properly if at all with digital trims.

So your options are,

Find an Attack 4wd,

The Futaba 4EX-FM which in the UK comes as a 40 FM unit with 3 servo`s and a set of Ni-Cd`s for around the 100 area. Its a nice radio and is the radio that I use with my multi channel models. Comes with a 4 model memory and various adjustments on a small LCD screen.

Futaba Skysport 27 AM, Stella has these some times, bit cheaper than the 4EX, but it only has servo reverse and a picture of an airplane on it!, which is just wrong to my eyes.

Or the Acoms Techniplus, Which I know nothing about.

If I was making the choice again for the first time, I would still go for the 4EX-FM.

Thanks for that.

So the 4EX-FM has the non digital trims then, that are needed for the MFU?

The 4 model memory sounds like a good idea. Can the the servo travel distances also be set through the LCD screen?

THE 4EX has old fashioned slidey widey trims :)

THe travel distances can indeed be set up thru the LCD, it can also increase the throw by another 45% dependent on the servos, it can also be reduced by quite a bit as well. It also has channel mixing but I am not sure how that works!
