taliesin 260 Posted May 16, 2008 i would say try for at least 4-6 decent packs if you can. they don't have to be super expensive, but even a 3000 mah pack should go quite awhile with a stock motor and ball bearings. i had the same problem but i just kept buying one or two every few months until i was content. with 13. for now. Mad Ax 9325 Posted May 16, 2008 It mostly depends on how many cars you take to a meet and how intensive on batteries they are. If you only have a Grasshopper with its stock motor then a few batteries will be fine - if you take a tuned twin-motor monster then you'll get through them much quicker. If you run 14.4v cars then you'll really struggle. I have about 6 batteries which is normally OK for a half-day's bashing. I take a quick charger with me so I can keep on charging from the cigar socket while I'm bashing too.

My charger does have the ciggy lighter adaptor on it so i guess i can charg from the car but not sure how long it takes My batteries ar 3300 so not to bad
GroupCracer 0 Posted May 16, 2008 I race Mini and Touring stock at my club. I get by with three 1500mah nicds and my Novak Ionic charger in the trunk. Thats two lots of four heats, a qualify race and the final. All 5 mins each
taliesin 260 Posted May 16, 2008 i would get some more batteries. i agree with madax about the number / type of cars, but only 1 pack per car seems a bit low for a day trip. particularly for hotter motors. you'll soon have a house full of stuff and look back to the simpler days of only having 3 cars and a few batteries. Wrc action 0 Posted May 17, 2008 Well welcome to the Club Im just up the road in Worcestershire, Probably be good with 4/5 batteries and a fast charger, You wont be running all the time at a "bash" like you would be when racing and often a pack will last around 50% longer as you stop in order to watch others or chat about the machines and dare we say the dreaded word (repairs ) i would also go for sticks not cells in bashing as many tamiya cars wont take cells. Something in the mid 3000's is good as much higher and you get the issue of heatbuild up in some cars espically those with inner bodies which negates the increase in battery life as well as increasing wear. terry.sc 16 Posted May 17, 2008 Usually for a bash between 10-15 charged packs and my charger as well Mainly because a lot of my cars have hot motors in them that get about 10 minutes run time from the batteries as most of my packs are old 1400mah and 1700mah ones that I acquired when I bought second hand cars - the pile of batteries soon mounts up.
