Hello,

I have a new Toyota Hilux on the way. And I think it would look dang nice with some Big Bear tires on it. Is this possible, and if so what do I need to get to pull it off? I already have the tires. So that isn't a problem. Thanks in advance..

I adapted them to my 1st Midnight Pumpkin.... Very cool tyres.

What you will need is 4 rear rims. These tyres have an unique fitment, and won't go (properly) on to any other wheels.

Once you've got that sorted, what you need to do is get 4 Long bolts, socket head, hex head, what ever, but socket heads look better. Get the required length by taking off the 12mm hex from one of the Highlift alxes and sitting the Big Bear rim on the axle, with the cross pin seated nicely in the slots on the back of the rim.

Measure the depth from the face of the Big Bear wheel (that the wheel nut does up against) to the end of the axle. Then, measure the length of the thread on the Highlift axle. Then, add 75% of the length of the thread to the result of the depth measurement. Remember, these wheels don't need the 12mm hex drive, so don't measure with them on. The fit right over the pin.

That's how long the shank of your bolts needs to be.

Get these four bolts, and get someone with a lathe to center drill the thread end out and tap a M4 thread into the hole. This needs to be atleast the length of the thread of your axles deep, about 20 mm is fine. Then, get him/her to turn the threaded area of the bolt down smooth, to a 7mm diameter.

Now, you have a long internal wheelnut (that you will have to use thread lock on, becasue there is no nylock ring in it) that will slip inside the Big Bear wheel, and reach down to the little short High lift axle.

Yes, you just need two sets of rear wheels for a Wild Willy 2. Big Bear Tires fit Lunchbox, Midnight Pumpkin, Mad Bull and Wild Willy 2 wheel rims almost perfectly, the tires do overhang the wheel rims alittle, but they do fit and there is no issue running a truck on them. The Wild Willy 2 or Mad Bull rear wheels are your best option as they have standard hexs, and should just bolt on.

I run a Big Bear Tires on my Blackfoot on gold Lunchbox wheels, and I have another set of Big Bear Tires mounted on Mad Bull rear wheels fitted to TLT axles.

If you want a perfect fit then you'll need to track down two sets of Big Bear rear wheel rims, and make adaptor to allow them to fit the Hilux axles, their was a vintage hop up that allowed you to fit Big Bear wheels directly to the Blackfoot but I haven't seen one list on ebay in two or more years, the only other option is to have custom set of wheels made.

Thanks! I don't mind how the tires look on those wheels, I do know what you mean by the overhang though. But the way I see it is that just protects the wheels from getting scratched so it is kind of a good thing. If all I have to do is get Wild Willy 2 wheels, then this is gonna be a lot easier than I had planned on it being.

Oh the tension builds. Looks like Mr. Hilux will be here tomorrow.

They will look cool but I think you will be dissapointed in the performance. I have them on my runner pumpkin.

The tires are big and soft which makes for sloppy handling.

Oh I know all about the sloppy handling. I have a Big Bear that I actually still drive. I was thinking of just using the Big Bear tires just for display, and the occasional snow play. But thanks for the slop warning :)
