I got a wild hair to put a set of aluminum wheels on my Wild Willy 2. I have yet to find a set of 2.0 wheels that fit. I had an extra set of See's wheels like the ones on my Lunchbox. The problem is that the center hub of the Lunch Box wheel is too long to fit on the shorter axle of the WW2. I took measurements of the stock wheel and hex mount then milled the back side of the aluminum wheels down to fit. I also milled a .090 slot for the axle pin to sit in. I polished the wheels up with Mother Mag polish and I think they came out killer looking.

Did Tamiya ever release a Wild Wendy kit? I've always wanted a Wild Willy jeep to bash around with, but after seeing the pic above, I'd rather have the "Wendy" version. Is there such a thing or is this something custom that you have created?

The Wild Wendy figure was created by our very own "Toymkr73". It was a limited production item from 2004 and I do not think any more will be made. I bought one a long time ago and ironically I have just started my Wild Willy project to display her :)

I'm hoping that Toymkr73 might make some other custom creations in the future. His fabrication is top notch!

Shodog - I dig that you custom fit Aluminum wheels to the Willy. I was interested in finding custom wheels myself, but it sounds like I would have to modify pretty much any 3rd party wheel to fit it. If you know of any other wheels that are compatible, please let me know. Thanks.

Just from pure sillyness, that's still my favourite ride of yours.

Shame you went to all that work, to fit the rear wheels.... A a pair of Nu-Frog rear axles and wheel adaptors would of put them on there, no machining required.

WoW !! Looking GREAT with chrome grill and blower dummy !! By the number of TC:ers that talks about Wild Wendy it must be very tempting for the guy who made "her" to take up production. He could make a fortune on them !!! I believe I saw another guy in Germany (?) who made another girl driver figure but I cant remeber "her" name ?? Anyone got info / pics ???

That won't work as I tried it before resorting to machining. The spacing between bearings on the frog and ww2 is substantially different. With the frog axle, you would have to put a large spacer behind the pin and then the wheels would stick out way too far.

Ah... That's good news ... Sort of?... Looks good in the end, and that's the important bit :)

nice wheels

now how would we replace the plasticky chassis rails with metal like CR01 :)

file em smooth then cover em in alfoil :P

This is what we have been missing here on TC of late - the Shodog alloy-wheel and superb livery creations. Excellent stuff!

Thanks for the compliment Bluefoot. One of the reason that spurred this folly was that RC4WD just released a Wild dagger aluminum gear case

very cool Jim.

Although personally I say don't chrome the chassis rails, as it'll detract somewhat from the wheels being such a focal point.

Also, put some stickers on the spotlights would you?

looks awesome in the sun !!

I got some custom made driveshafts and hex adaptors for my Wild Willy 2 back in 2004 from OldFrogShot here on TC.

I might be mistaken, but I think a set of these would have solved your problem without having to machine down your alu wheels?

Concerns regarding the width of the rear wheels were on my mind (I didn't want it to become too wide, but the original stance on the WW2 rear is too narrow).

Original width:

More pics showing the width in my showroom

Yes those axles would have did the trick but I am 4 years to late. I too got a set of those hex wheel adapters that oldfrogshot made and they are sweet. the re-release frog adapters look suspiciously just like them.

Stulec, I still need to paint the covers yellow and stick a Kc daylighter sticker on them.
