just thought i would share my fun and dismay at losing my ESC. well the Mtroniks RV11 is no more lol i just had a spectacular melt down in the middle of the road?.... i have to say it looked spectacular smoke everywhere under the car all the wires had melted free?... i now have bits of soilder stuck all over my TT01 chassis. so i am now in the market for a new ESC... i really did like the RV11 but i did not expect it to go bang running a 19 turn motor?.....

Mtroniks have a good customer service department - contact them first before you bin it, they may be able to repair it.

If the ESC itself is found to be faulty, they'll normally replace it.

I also run an RV11 and a 19t Quad Reedy and its gone loopy on me, no burn out, over heat (to touch) or smell, but it sticks on full throttle, cuts out, revers disables :-s im sending mine back to Mtroniks also! They will probably just replace it as the RV11 is sealed and waterproofed.

Twinset is right, you need to return the faulty or melted esc's to mtroniks they should offer you a direct replacement a 19t motor is not stressing an rv11 at all, should never have let the genie out.

Mtronicks have a history of letting out the genie so to speak. Just send it back and they normally replace them free of charge, Very good service!

Ryck they used to have a bad rep for this but their latest esc's are very reliable I have loads of mtroniks from the very basic to top line race esc and they are very reliable, along with this reliability they also have THE best customer service I have come accross in RC companies.

I used to run a first generation mtronics brushless system and it decided to blow on the furthest straight from the rostrum, I havn't run that fast in ages. It was smoking and spitting melted plastic all over the shell, made a bit of a mess of the carbon fibre too. I just binned it and bought a nosram system, then blew the rotor in the motor, oops.

And if anyone has experience of companies repair services and extreme reliability testing it's Biggus :)

I would have liked to deny that BUT unfortunately its true. Im an expert in the field of RC destructive testing.

:) I couldn't have put it better myself to be fair. I will also ceed that the newer Mtronicks esc's are proving to be more reliable than there last generation. However I still cannot stand the pitaful reverse gear on my viper rv11. I was rallying yesterday in this wonderful carpark that we have found locally all fine packed loose gravel, some big ruts and bumps and also some bedrock that gets exposed and well, I feared I had done a Rich when my car span and pitched 360 out of a corner as I slide through it :P there was no damage, but the worst bit was thanks to the dire reverse it wouldnt even reverse out of the grassy edge part as it didnt have any power :P

I mean I know I can use a marine version but they just havent got the acceleration features to get a lower curve and brakes thats needed on the gravel.

that truck one is protential, tho at 50 its a little steep really to only be able in time to get dwn to 15 turns.

Well i like the fact that mtronicks are 100% waterproof and I have proved this running my TB01 off road with massive puddles the esc was operating in a puddle inside the tub yet it was 100%. I have heard reports that the so called waterproof LRP ones are not so capable.

Cheers for that tip tho, I might well need one in my bowler. How marginal do you reckon running a 15 turn annsman for over 30 mins at a stroke be with no real cooling air. I want to run a large low tuned motor like a V8 would be,

Best Wishes

Going back to a thread recently concerning cheap vs rebuildable motors, I'd say the Ansmann will be fairly power hungry & relatively inefficient, whereas a good quality motor like the 19turn stock motors will place less stress on the ESC & give you nearly as much performance.

I too love the 100% waterproof attribute, although I tend to forget my receivers aren't :) & I've drowned them a couple of times.

50 for the Viper Truck isn't too bad, the older Super E Truck is an real animal, rated at around 4 times the max current of the regular Truck, capable of 2 x 11turn @12v, but it'll set you back a whopping 130 !!

One other nice feature is the integrated lighting outputs, but it's still a danged expensive esc.

Super E clicky.

Yeah but the standard old rover V8 was far from efficent and well built. I think it will be fun and I find that if you put in something "tuned" then you start looking for "tuned" in the car and work on the setup more rather than just enjoying it for what it is and should u wish to go faster you push the stick a little further upwards :L

Fair point, I was approaching it from the "try not to overload the esc" perspective to allow you a bit of leeway with the Viper Truck.

See now if you hadn't have sold that 19t stock motor, you could have used that :) (you should have the money by now btw)

Yeah I have, Paypal is just being slow with there notification mails (sunday for you :L)

Well yeah i know what u mean, But I also know that that motor in my bowler project will most likely roll over as it will be to rapid. This motor should be about right and its a bit of fun afterall, might end up back with a sport tuned, again ease of use and maintenance. Why I dont want ball diffs in my dakar machines as they can come loose and slip about which on hour plus runs isnt wat id call Fun.
