I know this sort of thing has been brought up before, but I'm going to be a little more specific this time. Speculation is ok, but hopefully someone with actual experience can chime in. Which would be better in a Clod: 2 Sport Tuned or 2 HPI Saturn 20 turn motors? I know the HPI motors should technically be faster, but this isn't always the case. My Clod is almost ready and I don't plan to run silver cans for long! :)

Thanks!

Dan

P.S. I have a Super Rooster which can handle either.

I would not advise the Sport tuned, as they have fixed timing (I do not know about the other motor you mention). One motor has to rotate in reverse in a Clod, so you need motors like the Kyosho Magnetic Mayhem, that are available in normal and reverse rotation versions. Or, alternatively, get a pair of motors with adjustable timing, and set one to the exact opposite as the other... e.g., one 5 * advanced, the other 5* retarded.

Other wise you have one motor (in turn, pair of wheels) turning at a slower speed than the other... This loads the faster motor a lot more than you think.

Or, just flip the rear axle over and you can run any motor you want.

So does this affect all motors put in the clod inc the standard silver cans?!?

bringing this one back up top.

can someone recomend upgraded motors for the clod?

anything safe to use with the teu-103?

i'm not opposed to buying a better esc either.

please post some recomendations.

preferably not adjustable timing motors, as i have long forgotten all i know about that subject.

On my TXT I'm running dual Traxxas Titan 550s, with dual packs (14.4v) and a Traxxas EVX2 ESC. I think they even have a reverse rotation version of the motor too. The truck flys with this setup.

No you can run a Sport tuned in reverse. It is just a hotter silver can. I used to run sport tuned motors in my Detonator and Dagger with no hick ups. Other motors will drag when run in reverse.

good to know henk, thanks.

power surge, do you have to run 16.v all the time with that esc or can you run one pack or a pair of 7.2's?
