First of all hello to you all.

I am new here, but i am reading the topics for a while now. I have a problem with my runner-astute gearbox. It look likes it slips after a while. I tried to tighten the screws of the dif and locked them with loctite but after a while it slips again. Are there any solutions, hop-ups to get this sorted out?

I am also searching for a thorp Dirtburner Balldif for my monsterbeetle. Any of you know where to get one?

First and obvious question that has to be asked. Have you used proper ball diff grease in the diff? I presume so as it doesn't slip to start with but I have to ask.

If the right grease has been used are the diff balls and washers worn? If the diff feels notchy when you turn it or the large washers have grooves in them they need replacing with new ones. The wear won't help the diff action and due to the wear it also means the standard pressure washer isn't powerful enough to compress it any more.

If the diff internals are fine then add an extra shim washer to compress the diff. The screws holding the diff together only keep the end plate on, they don't actually adjust anything.

Hy terry, I used the propper diff-grease, and there are no grooves in the washers. But when i tighten the screws that hold the dif together then it doesn't slip anymore for a while. I feel when i turn the wheels around a sort of clicking. When i turn to full throtle the dif doesn't slip anymore, but after a while the problem comes back.

The Thorp Dirt Burner for the Monster Beetle is very hard to find. I was looking for one for 3 years until finally i ended up buying a whole chassis just for the diff gear :P

ebay is the best place to look, but they are very rare.

Thanks, I was just looking at your modded Monster Beetle, looks just awesome. I replaced the steering-servo in the middle this weekend and it steers much better now.

Was just wondering how you modded the little black metal plate above the servo, because it doesn't fit anymore.

Check the cast diff cases aren't damaged. They are known to crack or deform over time, when this happens it can be virtually imposible to get a proper diff action and the only solution is to replace the alloy housings.

Hello, I am not clued up with all the different hop-up's to the gear box but hopefully somebody can explain, I have a Monster beetle with a CRP Axle conversion kit (CRP #9130) how is this better than stock???

I also have a chassis with a Thorp Dirt Burners No Slip Rear End, Thorp Dirt Burners Right and Left Universal Gear Box Joints, is this the Thorp Ball Diff you are discussing???
