All in the title, Looking for somewhere Suitable to run Scale Offroad trucks in this Area?

Anyone want to meet up or know anywhere suitable.

Preferable Somewhere with the following Criteria.

Mud or Dirt, Rocks but not cliffs! Bit of Water.

Somewhere we can have fun.

*edit* Oh and a Pub nearby wouldn't go a miss for a spot of lunch. and Maybee a Shandy (not encouraging drink driving)

To run Scale rides you know Toyotas Hi-lifts and dare i say it Chevy's :(

Anything capable offroad but and i'm not singling anyone out no Noisy Nitro's dont want to annoy the Yocals!

I've been down to the bottom of the Devil's Punchbowl at Hindhead where there's a variety of terrain and a stream to play in. Have not done the east side of the A3 at Hindhead, but there's a lot of land to explore.

Additionally, someone on TC put some pictures of their visit to a place near Shere and on live.maps it looks as if the road is called Drove Road which is just off the A25 about 5 miles east of Guildford, if you take the A25 south from the A246 it's about a mile south. Haven't been there myself so can't comment but the pictures and terrain looked o.k. Perhaps it may jog someone's memory. Will try and find a bit more about it.

Yes, the Devil's Punchbowl is a National Trust location, I spend a lot of time at East Head (West Wittering) which is also National Trust and have only bumped into a ranger once, he was fine with us there, it's the nitro stuff and aircraft which are frowned upon. If you're walking around with an XC I think they can see that you're not going to be a problem, just keep your "sensible" head on. Far less of a nuisance than some dog owners!

The car park at Hindhead does sometimes get a bit full but there is a public car park left and left again at the traffic lights (if you're heading south). NT members do get parking for free at the Punchbowl.

Just over the road is a large pub, but there are several others not too far away. There's also a tea shop and toilets adjacent to the car park.

Not quite surrey, just outside of guildford, Twesledown between aldershot and fleet. It's an Army training ground although they don't use it much these days. It has woodland tracks, hills, water, sand track, mud tracks the lot, my son and i run our clod and bullhead over there most sunday mornings, god knows how big it is you could easily spend the whole weekend there oh, and there is a pub also !!

i'll have a look now and see what i can find.

The best way in is from the A325,heading toward aldershot from farnham turning left into WELLESLY Road. Follow for approx 1/2 mile there is a 'car park' of sorts on both the left and right. If you miss these there are several more along wellesly road. To find the pub just keep going you will pass twesledown race course and come to a staggered cross road, the pub is on the left. No danger of low or high flying bombs though!

I've tried to upload the google map without success

Forgot to add there is a massive hill, we've only managed to drive up it from one side, part is totaly inacessable with a vehicle, but when you get to the top you have a great view over three counties, Hampshire, surrey and berkshire, plus if your into planes a good view into Farnborough airfield

Looks like a good place is this where you are talking about?

almost, you have gone a bit too far down the a325, the large 'sandy' area in the pic is the bottom edge, i'll try to get a proper reference on somtime tomorrow

twesledown

this is the multimap link, the army land is wellesley road, and bourley road, the pub is situated at the far end (off map) od bourley road. As you enter left from the a325 there are numerous 'car parks' on the left and right

Dready, that Drove Road area is more commonly know around here as Newlands Corner. It's about 5 minutes drive away from me, and I used to reguarly go there with all sorts of cars. It's not actually a road, the thing that looks like a road is a long car park. There's a cafe right there, which can get a bit busy on the weekends.

In the woods to the north of the car park, there' endless amounts of small hills, banks, mud, gravel, stony bits, roots etc. There's also an area commonly used by mountain bikers to do jumps and things, should you fancy something a big quicker. You could easily spend all day exploring the area without even covering half of the terrain. It can get a bit leafy come Autumn, what with the complete tree cover. But avoid that and it should be fine. If you want mud, it certainly has it after a bit of rain.

I think it's your best bet. I was going to suggest it anyway before I realised you were actually on about the same place. If you're going to go there, give me a shout and I'll bring my XC along as, like I said, it's only a few minutes away.

These were taken years ago, of me running my Dagger up at the jumps area up there - http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...12&sid=3221

EDIT: Forgot to add, yes there is a pub. It's the Horse and Groom, probably a 2 or 3 minute drive away from the Newlands car park. See map attached.
