For those who do collect NIB's, in fact to anybody who collects RC.

At what number do you normally loose count?

I was tallying up the NIB collection today, and had to seriously sit down to work out what I had, not having them there in front of me! (They are stashed away all over the place, helps to conceal the true tragedy of the situation!)

The total at the moment is 19 NIB, 7 runners, 1 Shelf Queen.

I think I may have lost count a few ago though, in fact when the wife asks me, my memory gets very, very vague. I struggle to remember more than single figures will allow!

I cannot wait to turn a few NIB's into runners though, the re-re Lunchbox is proving way to tempting!

I have 7 cars, and two worth in parts... I haven't los count just yet, but if it keeps growing as fast as the past couple of months I'll have about 12-15 cars at the end of the year ;) (Although I am planning to keep it at less cars and focus on making them drive exactly like I want to and get electronics in all of them).

I don't collect NIB's... I would even want to build the Porsche 934 if I had one for example, so that's why I wouldn't buy one... It's value would just go down the drain and I could have just as well bought an already new built car ;)

I don't collect nibs at all - and yet I have more than 30 of them! I can't work it out. I think it's just that I'm very slow at building them, and there are always too many projects to complete before I get to the nib kits (only ever built one car from a nib kit - all the others are resto's). Something for my retirement perhaps.

I have a few (5-6 NIB) in the loft but just remembered i have 4 or 5 in the spare bedroom cupboard as well - Gold Lunch Box, Chrome Chassis Brat and 30th anav Porsche to name a few.

i tend to not even think about how many cars i have because i lost count many years ago. i tend to go for new build rather than NIB as i like to see them on my shelfs.

a year or so ago i packed up about 30 cars to put in the loft to make space for new cars on the shelfs but already the shelfs are full again.plus i cant remember what cars i have packed up so chances are i might have 1 or 2 the same.so its time to tidy up and pack another 20-30 cars and put them in the loft.

it will be nice when i get the time to unpack all of them to see whats there and get rid of a few doubles.

ahh... at first i was diagnosing premature senility... but now i think you're suffering from memory loss due to stress under interrogation.

its a very common affliction amongst crazy toy car hobbyists

got hit with a bad case of it yesterday too...

"is that new, did that car just arrive?" ...umm its been here a while (few hrs?) :)

"how long have you had it?" ...had one 26yrs ago :)

"when did you buy it?" ...err the other day :)

"where are you gunna put it?" ...umm, working on that :)

Thanks guys,

I don't know the scientific explanation for it, but knowing you are not alone, somehow makes you feel better!

Now what should I buy next?

hahahahah, soo true

I have 3 NIB kits at the moment, none are vintage but 1 is discontinued. I am not collecting them to be NIB's rather I am trying to build up a big NIB stock so when I get long service leave holidays, about 9 weeks holidays I can relax just building kits and stuff...... I am aiming for 10 NIB kits before I start building any of them, dunno if I will make it though.....

NIB has its flavour; Shelf Queen has its flavour and so does runners. I had about 30 of them and sold about 10 of them recently.

I didn't intend to have NIB but more of shelf Queen but just don't have the room the display them and they ended up staying nib.

I personnaly would like them built but I will end up with the box, as I don't like throwing the box out, and the RC so my cannot built them. I don't see them as toys but work of art with engineering. To me is no different than someone collecting print/poster or tea cup sets.
