recently been on holiday to cyprus, where i hired a car for a week. was on my way to Limmasol town centre, when i passed 2 model shops. at the time they were both closed, but on my way home, Nick's Models was open! stepped inside, and OMG!! timewarp!

boxed Marui's everywhere, r/c planes, helicopters, this shop was full to the brim!

really wanted to buy something, but cyprus is now quite expensive since they've switched to the euro, so sadly couldn't afford anything! found a large monster truck similar to a clod buster, but only had one motor, but did have 4 wheel steering, was made by a company called Royal something or other. can't remember the name of the truck either, but it came with a t-shirt transfer!

took a few pics of his boxed marui stock to keep y'all going!

Wow! Some nice Marui kits there. How much was the Big Bear going for?

the royal truck was around 80 cypriat pounds, which was around 160 euros

think he said the marui stuff was around the same money

Wow, that's a pretty insane find! Amazing that there are shops out there that are still in business that still have these 80s kits. I would've thought that if they haven't been able to sell stock like that for this long, how are they doing enough business to stay open??

I always liked the look of the Shogun and Ninja though. Hope someone from here raids the place and posts pics ;)

That's dirt cheep for such old rare RC kits.

he speaks excellent english, and i got his number somewhere at home....!!!

Ooooh, that could be dangerous.... If you hate me, pm it to me!

These kits you see have been plucked for spares and kept on hand for that reason. I spoke with this guy about a year ago.

Look at the photos carefully, if they were NIB, they would not have the handling wear on the outside of the boxes as most

of them do. Day late and a dollar short so-to-speak!

If they were NIB, I would have bought all of them when I spoke with the guy. Unless you can visually see inside each kit,

it is hard to gauge a value of the spares...

There are duplicates of some of the kits, eg the Big Bear. I'd imagine that one could combine them into something that was pretty close to NIB from what's there, but would still be missing key bits.

Eg, tires, gears, body parts would be the most likely bits missing.

the royal if a buggy was called the ripper, if a monster truck was the crusher

the crusher had a waterproof bathtub chassis

Royal r/c was junk, all of them. The plastic used was way to brittle.

Anybody who owned one and drove it became frustrated, you didn't even have to crash to break something.
