I want a road car, my xc is too pretty and expensive to risk blasting down the road with and rolling and smashing, and its too small to do any real offroading with where im at. Which is fine because i have a total basher Clod for that. So if i have the Clod for offroad and the Jeep doesnt do either very well i figure i should park the jeep and strip it of its goodies (new teu 101 BK, and sport tuned motor) so it stays mint and buy a on road car to have some fun with when the clod is broken. Only problem is that i have never looked into them and i dont have a lot of money for one. I know i want a Tamiya because i would never settle for less, and i know i dont want front wheel drive because i have too much fun sliding around. What chassis should i get? It wont be abused too bad, no racing or anything and it wont be used every day or anything so it doesnt have to be super durable, mainly i want something modern, and simple that has replacement parts available for it still and cheap.

Hi if your on a budget you carnt really go wrong with the tamiya tt 01 parts are cheap the kits new are cheap even a good second hand roller will do, the only thing that you can upgrade if and when you needed is the alloy centre prop & alloy motor mount but only if you wanted to.

you can even lock the diffs with hot glue or bluetack at a later date and use as a drifter, there great for the price . like you say it not going to be raced on the track so why spend silly money.

hope this helps

I'd recommend a TB-02. The TB03 is coming, so TB-02 cars can be had very cheaply. They come with a lot of hopups as standard, so are great value. Oil dampers, adjustable turnbuckles, metal driveshafts and prop, full bearings, ball differentials... The don't include an ESC in the kit, but if you get a used one one will usually be included. They do need a metal motor mount though, if running hotter motors.

Gearbox is relatively well protected from stones for carpark bashing.

If you're after a 'beginner' car for club racing, go for the TA05.
