I use a very sharp hobby blade to slice it to length then very carefully whittle it to a smooth rounded tip with the same blade. Then I sand with sandpaper starting with 180 grit dry and finishing with 600 grit wet until I have a very smooth rounded tip.

I usually leave 1 extra hole higher than I need incase the road surface is not so level, gives 2 positions to mount the body height at. I also use a piece of foam cut in a circle to stop the body from rattling on the post.

Cheers, Mark

Thanks for the advise mark, i guess will look at the kitchen on what's available on my disposal

I also use a felt sticker pad around the body holes to stop the body from rattling and saves the body from paint chips from the metal pins.

i use a very sharp pair of end nippers [similar to diagonal cutters] and it leaves a nice little ^ shape on the posts that can be rounded with an emery board or nail file pretty easily. diagonal cutters just squash the posts and make a hash of the job, so i wouldn't try using those. [ not again, anyway :( ]

some ppl buy guillotine secateurs (razor blade on 1 jaw, flat on the other)

i snip mine with flush sidecutters then jam them into my pencil sharpener to bevel the edge

i like to use a vicuna. they have such tiny little lips and sharp teeth. you have to wear pretty thick leather gloves and remember not to squeeze them too hard, lest you damage them though.

Clever, I'll have to steal that one

keep em coming guys, i'm afraid i have no super sharp tools around to cut without deforming part of the remaining post.

sanding no problem since i have sand papers on hand.

Look for guillotine type dog nail clippers. They slip over the post and a squeeze of the handle will trim the excess straight off neatly.

Did it the hard way, fiskars and a lot of sanding :D

i have never bothered trimming them before but did my runner mini with a hobby knife the other day as the constant rolls were bending them lol. not a neat job thou, it really doesnt need to be on that car! it will sand them itself next time it goes out!
