And Ty, Do you have any friends who happen to be jealous and are experts in pyrotechnics? :o That's really quite a mess!

I hadn't thought about that, but now ... hmmm. :P

It sounded like a shotgun blast and was actually quite scary. Thankfully, I wasn't bending over it or something. I was happily driving around my front yard and sidewalk, when KABOOM!

I called the car a total loss. It ruined the esc [a really nice novak brushless one, natch  ] and the on/off switch, most of the chassis, tub and suspension, damaged the body pretty badly and generally made a mess of everything else. The brushless motor itself was unharmed, and the steering servo was ok. The receiver was a bit singed, and the antennae has always frightened me a bit due to a damaged spot near the box, but it still works, i guess.

Could have been much worse though, like me looking at it closely and getting my face blown off, or actually having that battery pack in hand, or.... yeah, it could have been MUCH worse.

Well, it wasn't a terribly bad crash, but it was kinda funny...

I was out bashing my old TB01 around a gravel parking lot, generally abusing it and having a grand time, when I flipped it over and it rolled down an embankment. I put it back shiny-side-up, started driving again, and suddenly the car didn't want to turn right. I picked it up and fiddled around with things, but I couldn't get it to turn. Not only that, but the suspension on the right front felt jammed up and it made a funny rattling noise when I hit the throttle. My battery was almost dead, and I didn't have any tools with me, so I switched it off and went home.

I took the body off when I got home, expecting to see a bent or broken upper link or dogbone. Nope, nothing was damaged; it was just carrying a little extra weight:

For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how that pebble got wedged in there. It was bigger than any opening between parts that I could find. I actually had to pop off the upper link to get it out.

I had this with my TA02, too. Several times I had small pebbles wedged between my chassis and the main drive shaft. Because of that it wouldn't turn anymore. I also had one jammed in the steering once. When such things happen I always take the body off first to see what the damage is :)

Any more "expencive" mistakes out there ...

Need to update my "damage" photo map ;) taking a look there makes me feel

better when i must order yet another stash of bits to compisate for lacking driving skill's

Worse 'accident' for me was when I was about 12 and a green VW Beetle (I remember it clear as the day!!) ran OVER my Marui Ninja  I was distraught. Needed a whole new chassis, new suspension and God knows what else. I cried all night! Think the cost at the time (20 years ago now!!) was not too bad, about 35 I think!

Mine was at the swedish Tamiya/retro convent.

I just had to run my Rough Rider so everyone could see the

glory of a real vintage car and run into the wall B)B):):P

The front bumper broke in two and the front of the car looked like a hunchback...

broken rims, wasted tires, lost crystal, body thrashed thats all I can see now. Maybe not my most expensive, But well terrifying

I have read somewhere of someone insuring their race car incae anything happens

Probably a shelfer eh :D Else you're gonna get bills worth something like a NIB scorcher, every month...

And Badboy, I had the same with my Scorcher... On it's first run I had with it ;) I was ******* at the electrics since they failed... It got out of range 10 yards way... Same result though with the front end... Luckily they can be bent straight again, although it's something you'd not want to do daily... And it's a nice way of adjusting the camber on your car I guess <_<

Randomly resurecting an old thread, that battery exploding is insane - i'm now slightly scared of the really cheap 'green' packs i just got on ebay...I have not had any hideos crashes when driving apart from some fun cartwheels with my hobao pirate 10 truck resulting in broken axles/cvds, the rest of the car is bulletproof.

It was driven upside down by a freind for about 5 seconds at what seemd like 40000rpm with balooned tyres scratching the heat sink... otherwise a comical car that i dont drive due to weak axles and the cost of fuel...

My ezrun gravelhound got driven into a granite wall at 35mph ripping the chassis and rear shock tower apart off and partialy demolishing the wall at a party where some drink may have been involved...

best crashes i have seen is a hornet going off a 20ft high drop and shattering on tarmac, and an fg 5th scale porsche getting its throttle stuck open and driving under and lifting up a ford focus, causing equal ammounts of damage to both.

i havent had anything as cool as an exploding car :D and my most expensive crash was about 25-30 dollars worth. i was racing my duratrax evader st at the local track while doing about 40MPH down a strait it decided to jump the guard piping and run directly in to the flagger's stand with the center of the body and the righ swing arm. damage: broken body mount( still isnt fixed now a couple years later), crushed swing arm, crushed part under then shock towers, and a broken shock tower on only one side so that is currently zip tied untill i find out if i want plastic or aluminum( or feel like spending money). as for tamiya, i cashed my TA02 F150 in to a pole supporting the roof above the front deck. that was the second day i had it and i decided to put a 17T motor in to it. :) thank goodness it was peeling out still when it hit. i have gotten quite good at barrel rolls now that i have a 17T in there. :P

Buy a Savage and fix your problems  and if you do break it, replacement parts are CHEAP... as in cheaper then Tamiya parts by about 50% and good quality :) eBay baby

Well let me tell you a bit of a story about my worst crash i bought this car off the bay not even sure what it was no one bid on it so i must be a sucker for hard luck casses, it looked in really good condition apart from needing an engine which i had a spare of, the car arrived & i put in my new engine in it & on testing the car i had a minor spill with a 4x4 tyre thought nothing of it untill going flat out along the road & the battery popped out. Your face turns from wow this is ace :) to oh no ive got no control.

Flat out in to the curb the impact bends the chassis in to an s shape, bent dog bones, broken center gear, wish bones, servo's, fuel tank, body shell, the only salvagable parts were the rear end & the engine which i have thrown in to my big box of scrap cars i would have liked longer than 30 minutes of fun from this car before breaking it.

I race and have had some SPECTACULAR "OMG" "HOLY S#$T" crashes.. WORST EVER was 7 years ago- when I broke my brothers glasses he took revenge and CRUSHED :) my new built TG10 MK.1 Pro chassis and broke it in half and bent the aluminum bottom -literally, he is strong!! I must admit, I had it coming though. I am glad my Bruiser was not in sight :o

That cost me another $400 w/ motor to replace...
