Just unwrapped my brand spankin' new Traxxas Slash, plugged in a 4200mah battery pack, and...

WOW!

These things are FUN! Pretty fast right out of the box, jumps like a kangaroo and doesn't mind landing on 1, 2 or 4 wheels. I got seriously out of some shape coming over several jumps, and even landing sideways on 2 wheels in opposite lock, the blasted thing wants to come back and stay upright. When I did roll it, it came back onto the rubber more often than not. What a kick. :D

These trucks have very realistic looks while running, and I can't help but think of Robby Gordon every time I get sideways or land an epic jump.

If you haven't ordered one yet, do yourself a favor and get one. :D

I read good things about this traxxas slash. Being priced right. Almost indestructable. Fun to drive and easily brushless ready.

I will be waiting for it's electric 4wd version.

You know, i think the 2wd is probably more fun honestly. This thing wallows around and slides like a pig, the rear end kicks out and its a bit tricky to drive - just like its supposed to be! it really recreates the realism of an overpowered race truck like what is used to run the Baja 1000 or the CORR short tracks.

I've now ran 4 packs through it tonight alone and what a hoot. Its been on the lid a few times already too. :D

I am thinking about a Traxxas Slash, too. But before I consider buing one I'd want to find out if Traxxas has a clear body set or if there is another truck shell with the Slash's wheelbase, because I just don't like it's paint scheme and realism of the shell...

But good to hear from another person that it's a fun car :D

I went for the Losi desert racer- I Hope that's as much fun as you're having! Ordered some paddle tyres for the back too B)

The only real difference is the body and bumper system. The Slash is fully protected all around and you can rub fenders with other racers and not get tangled. The Losi is more like a stadium truck with the suspension and tires exposed beyond the body-- not as easy for door-to-door racing. B)

I've seen the Losi go-- still a very capable truck. Get 5 or 6 Slashes on a short track together and it's a blast to watch and race! The spec class (box stock except for battery and radio) is taking off at the local tracks.

What is up with those penguins?

i still don't know which penguins are shouting or what they're shouting about, ryan. B)

Haha! I just saw it once printed on someones T shirt and it made me chukle. Also like the one that goes:

"I'm not mad- just ask my camel Stephen"

So it's waterproof from the start?!!

Sweet!!!

You don't happened to have a Sand Scorcher or Clod or hilux?

To put beside eachother so we can see the size of it.

it is waterproof, you just have to make sure your battery is to.

this thing is HUGE! I MEAN REALLY HUGE! i don't know how they can call it 1/10 scale in good conscience, actually. i used the twin detonator for comparison.

ps: i'm sure you will understand [or maybe even applaud] the fact that they are both dirty in this photo, cause i was just out playing with them in the dirt.

my twin detonator is starting to look pretty sad, but it has been driven very hard and is starting to deteriorate. i didn't paint it, and the 1st owner used the wrong paint i guess, so it started peeling. i was going to repaint it, and then thought ...NAW... i'll just drive the wheels off it and do a better paint job on the next one.

Beside the Twin Det it looks 1:8 scale. Quick measure of the wheelbase and width would tell you. Compare to a real race truck. Same could be said for many other brand 1:10 scale stadium trucks that should really be labelled 1:8. True scale seems to mean nothing unless it's a Tamiya.

I bought a 7 cell 3300mah battery pack with Traxxas connectors and man oh man does this thing move! I've never run a 7 cell pack before, but it is a massive difference in speed and power. I simply outran my neighbor's nitro truck yesterday and boy was he twiterpated.

The more I read this thread, the more I want one. I spent almost two hours yesterday watching videos of them on You Tube!!!

MY local club has a spec class just for them.

keeping them stock seems to be the key, and just focus on having fun with them.

We will be running them indoors in the Winter too, I might have to get one for that.

Sticker kits from Upgrade RC, $46 for a sticker set, but it looks a lot better than Traxxas' colour scheme, IMO

My reaction to my Slash was identical to Tally's.

I had only seen vids as I think I'm the only one with one in these parts (and if you do, on for a race? B) ) so I didn't know what really to expect.

Honestly, they are the best value rc on the market. Period. Absolutely brilliant.

I don't care if the Slayer is X better for Y reasons, or any other breed for that matter. The Slash, I think is now my "most fun" vehicle I own - Sorry, Wild Willy, but you just copped it.

I've got to agree, Ive had my Slash for a couple of months now and it's the best value RC vehicle i have ever bought.

It's without doubt the most fun, Indestructible, rewarding to drive RC that I have ever owned.

To say that Im impressed is a huge understatement, Traxxas really got it right with this one, i think it's a land mark In the history of RC's!!
