Shells I'd Like Tamiya To Make.

Recommended Posts

Been thinking lately about the saloon cars currently being produced & what I'd like Tamiya to make. I know the range is pretty good but Subarus', BMWs' Mercs' & Nissans can get a bit boring, I'd like some old classics. The Alfa on M-04 was nice but how about these for suggestions.

Ford Capri, Ford Escort Mk1, Triumph Dolomite or E-Type Jag on M-04

Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth on TT-01/TA-05 etc.

I know it's mostly Fords I've listed but it's what I'd really love to see, also I'm aware other makers probally produce a few of these shells but no one makes them like Tamiya.

Any other suggestions?

I've been thinking on this aswell. :D There are loads of shells I'd like to see Tamiya make too (and not just saloons).

I'd like to see either a Toyota Trueno AE86 or the Mk2 Toyota Celica Supra (circa 1982-1986) with "pop up" headlights (like the FD3S Mazda RX7 kit) on the TT01-D...

Or the Pagani Zonda Cinque or Koenigsegg CCXR Edition on the TA05-IFS...

Or the Smart Roadster Brabus BiTurbo on the M04L (to simulate the MR setup) or on the TA04-SS (if Tamiya are willing to resurrect it! ;))...

Or the Mk4 Mitsubishi L200 Warrior (as I don't like the new shape L200) on any chassis that works (Maybe CC01 or High Lift?).

And if all of them can be made with light buckets too that'd be... well... truly awesome! :)

*edit

I'd like to add the Lotus 7 (or Caterham Super 7) to my list of wants. I don't know what chassis it'd fit on tho.

And the McLaren Mercedes SLR.

And gimme a Corvette Stingray shell please!

And the Mazda RX7 FD3S with the Veilside Fortune bodykit.

And the Delorean. (who didn't love it in Back To The Future?)

This has been discussed many times even since I've been here, but every time it comes up, my wish list gets longer. VW Scirocco Mk1, Fiat 131 Abarth, Lancia Fulvia, and Lotus Europa are all cars I'd love to see on the appropriate M-chassis. There are many others, but those are the ones that come to mind at the moment.

While Im in love with small cars and especialy Fiat I would like to see a cinquecento - seicento the new 500 a 126 or maybe a Fiat Ritmo Abart MK1 - all can be based on the M-chassis

Or to fullfill my wildest dream - a Merc SSKL - Bently Blower - Bugatti 57... - no idea which chassis will make things like this possible.

I'd like Tamiya to make a Fox shell... ...along with the rest of the car to go under it ;)

Actually, too many shells... And they should focus less on modern shells I think, why not release some older cars, like a proper NSU TT shell with hard parts, not a lexan blob like Carson's body... Same for the Trabant.

They should release old Gr.B heroes, RWD Rallyu heroes, more old Gr.C/Le mans like car shells, cars like the Lancia Beta Monte Carlo Turbo (And link 2)

Important pieces of American car history like a Pontiac GTO or A Dodge Charger also just miss in tamiya's collection. A BMW 2001 or an old 3 series BMW would also be very, very cool!

So let's say, I'd love to see more cars from between the 60's and 90's, And also keep on making some modern shells (And finally release the (end) 2003 Ford Focus WRC or the 2004 one (the 2003 one tamiya chose was the ugliest paintscheme Ford ever chose to use on their WRC focus ;) the later one linked to above was the best one in my opinion though)...

The automotive history is too large to cover all its jewels. Many interesting suggestions in this thread, I must say!

In addition to several cars already mentioned would like to see:

Benz Patent Motorwagen (Genesis - the first car in history, produced by Benz, as in Mercedes Benz)

Citron 2CV

Citroan DS

Land Rover Defender

Mercedes 300 SL (W194)

Mercedes 600 Pullman (W100) I cannot recall any RC limousine!

Renault 4

I agree that some American icons (why not a Packard or Duesenberg or a Ford Model T?) would also add greatly to Tamiya's lineup. Older racing cars, such as 1930s Mercedes, Bentley or Bugatti would also be excellent.

I would love to see a Triumph GT6+ ;)

Or any of the great English sports cars from the 60s:

Austin Healey 3000

Austin Healey Sprite "Frogeye"

Triumph TR5 or TR4

MGBGT (at least kyosho gave us the MGB)

All perfect cars for the M-Chassis RWD!

I know there was thread on this recently, and I am going to add my $0.02 right here...although it is not just a shell....

Imagine this......

A truck based chassis, modified a little for clearance and ride height...with sporty motors...

you get this

Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth on TT-01/TA-05 etc.

YES!!! Especially the Puimini Trampio version that Tamiya did as a 1/24th kit! I'd also like the 2008 Focus WRC, a Skoda Fabia WRC and a Skoda Octavia WRC on a purpose built rally chassis!! Also an Aston Martin DBR9, Ford GT40 and Lola T70 MK.III

Matt

I'd like a mk1 Golf, Vauxhall Nova and a '95 Impreza (McRae L555 BAT).

Sierra's would be a good shout either a 3 door Cossie or a Saphire.

Quite fancy a Talbot Sunbeam aswell.

I would give my left testicle for a SAAB 9-3 ~1999, preferably with the Aero/Viggen bodykit...

Another body I'd really like to see is a 1/8 scale Ford Mustang '65 hatch back to go with my LandMax...

I want a Volvo 850 estate shell for my FF01 chassis. I've found a company making 3rd party ones, but a pukka Tamiya one would be nice, with details like the spoiler etc that the 3rd party one doesn't have.
