Ok my Xbox 360 died on me so i have sold all my stuff off as i cant be bothered with getting another one, didnt play it anyway so this is where im up to, i have built and running:

Blackfoot Xtreme

Gravel Hound

Lunchbox

TT01 Nismo Skyline

But now i have around 200 for 1 or 2 models to build slowly and hop up till christmas when i will be buying myself a TXT1 or Hi-Lux after much saving

So im looking at

Clod Buster?

M03M Swift?

M04L Beetle?

Looking on ebay all the above kits are going at good prices and just dont know what to get, was even looking at HPI Wheelie king but they dont come as a kit and turning into a crawler,so can any one help me decide on my next purchase? Dont really wantwhat i already have ie another TT01 or pumpkin which is the same as the lunchbox as much as i like the look of it!

Thanks for your help :P

out of your three short-listed kits I'd go with the swift.

The front-wheel drive handling is definately a big change from the TT01 you're used to, they're top fun and have massive scope for hop-ups should you decide you want to upgrade. I have two M03s - one a highly-hopped road car (Suzuki WagonR) and one a tuned rally car (Swift on 1.9 rally blocks). Both are massive fun. You'll also find M03s are very popular with other bashers so you should be able to have a good race with others.

The M04 is similar to the M03 but feels a little more "primitive" as RWD chassis generally need to be finer tuned than FWDs. Driving is fun and different, although they're more twitchy than FWD or 4WD tarmac cars. The Beetle shell looks great if you like standard-looking beetles, and there's as good a range of hop-ups as the M03, too.

Clods I think are a very personal choice - the TXT will outperform it in almost every respect unless you want to build a custom chassis - in which case the Clod stands ahead (even tho it's a completely different beast from its standard design). If you want to mod a monster, the Clod is the way to go (IMO). If you want something to build and look very impressive then the Clod will do great, until the TXT arrives and outclasses it - stock TXTs are bigger than Clods and look great with the ally chassis plates.

All IMO, of course

H mate

Iam in the process of building 2x Beetles they are easy builds fun bodies to paint up anything goes really (Paint wise) I find driving the Beetles (M-04L) Chassis to be very twitchy on the steering front wheel drive I guess.

I dont have either of the other 2 you mentioned so can only comment on the Beetle's (My VW Beetle mania is over after doing these 2 :P ) ,a fun car but enough of the VW Beetles already.

I found the VW Beetle Decals rather dissapointing and ended up painting my own ,Indicator's front ,Rear brake lights and some other minor things .

Time for another build hanging to start my WW2 or Subaru Brat or Ford Escort Cosworth,Alfa Romeo,Pajero ,The list goes on,

Cheers

Then you can get yourself full membership and keep mine company in the showrooms, I think a DF03 would be a great choice for your next rc car diddyscoob.

Mate!! I am a tamiya devout supporter......but if I had that sort of cash waiting to be spent on a FUN vehicle....I would without a doubt go for the traxxas slash!! go check out their website.....that thing rox big time...

Oh! and look at that price.....!!! US$199 RTR.....with the rest, get yourself a brushless motor and some batts...

You are getting the HL anyway, so have a rip around in this in the interim!!

ETA! If you smash the traxxas up (unlikely) you still have an ESC, a capable one at that, to shove into someo other build, as well as a HT servo...

I should be charging for this sort of advice..LOL

Why buy brushless motors separate, check out the the HPI Firestorm E Flux, easily the choice if you have the cash. I love Tamiya and not a fan of RTR but this could change my mind.

Andy,

The advice you gave me is the same as the guy in my LHS so yeah you should charge for advice lol he told me to also look at the E-Max so at the moment i just dont know, I have the Swift coming now and for the price i just couldnt say no, but i really like the TXT1 the size and presence is great, expensive shelf queen tho. :D

What about something like a Pajero (Xc) or a bowler project. Something offroad with a hard body and some scale to it. Not that expensive about 100 all in and plenty of build time adding the details etc. Will also give you practice for your highlift.

I've been into hobby grade r/c's since 1983 and the SLASH is simply one of the best ever, hands down. Rugged, virtually unbreakable and makes grown men giggle like school girls

If you just want to Bash with a big truck, the E-MAXX seems to be tops out the box from what I have seen (I'm not a RTR guy). I have not seen the SLASH in action but from what I here are raving about it also.. I know you like the DF series diddyscoob but have a look at the Durga, it will cost less than the DF-03MS and it is more fun to drive. JMO of course...

Cheers

BTW- Congrats on the Swift!

I agree. I am spending alot to get my Dark impact on the level of a durga and it would have been cheaper in the long run buying the Durga. Oh well, atleast I'll have an over priced DI that is unique. Then i'll just sell it and buy an Associated B44. Maybe not.

Any DF03 will out last the Durga one a proper off road circuit due to its drive belts, its a fact.

I'm not so sure that it is a fact. With the slipper clutch, the Durga will bash about an offroad track with brushless all day long, just like a TRF-501X will.

The Durga's drive belts are enclosed, which prevents stones and grit getting in.

The Durga is the better handling car of the two, no question.

And whose facts are those then. ;)

Personally I prefer belt drive buggies as they tend to be more reliable due to the nature of the belt drive absorbing shock loads.

Of the two the Durga is likely to outlast a DF-03, the improved handling means you are less likely to crash and break something.

If you are looking to crawl with the wheelie king, you have to spend a ton to modify it. Plus it is onlyy rear wheel drive!

I would go Axial AX10 or CR01 if you want a crawler.

I spoke to someone on the HPI stand at Goodwood and the crawler modification kit for the wheely king will be reasonably priced, around 30. Plus they are four wheel drive linky
