Today I ran my lunchbox into a tree - DOH! :D I have snapped the arm undernearth but am not sure what it's called. Its the black triangle plastic arm thats attached to the bottom of the suspension. Also does anyone know the best shocks for the lunchbox? I'd like to upgrade

Many thanks

Sounds to me like you want the Lunchbox A parts tree ( no pun intended!! )

This should be the one .... Tamiya A Parts 0005164

Try a search on eBay for "Tamiya 0005164" or "Lunchbox A parts" and you'll find the one I mean.

Keep an eye out on eBay for a set of Monster Beetle shocks - otherwise known as "CVA Short Shocks" - if you want to buy new search for this "Tamiya 50520 CVA Short Shock Unit Set II" but remember you will need TWO of these for a whole set on a Lunchbox...

Hi there, I forgot to ask, do I need two sets as one set is front and back shocks whereas for the lunchbox I need 4 X rear shocks is that correct? Also are these the shocks that Tamiya describe as hop-ups on their Lunchbox box?

Yup - front and rear shocks are the same - you need two of the items listed above which makes it kind of expensive - hence I said hold out for some Monster Beetle or CVA short shocks if you can.

The 'box is never going to be a great handler - but these eliminate a lot of the "boinginess" of the standard rubbish :)

OK great thanks. So do you have any hop-ups on yours? :)

These are the things you need to do - some great articles by Hellbelly...

Also another thing to do is pop a couple of extra spacers in the front shocks to lower the front to try and help the steering...

Have a search around the main site and take a look at the other Lunchbox/Midnight Pumpkins - loads of cool stuff :o

A ball bearing servo takes much of the slop out of the front steering as the arms are connected directly to the servo horn and the big wheels do carry a fair load. I used a Futaba S3004 instead of the normal S3003.

The other mods do wonders to the handling, but to get the same 'fun factor' you need to up the power some. Orion 19 turn double and NoLimit ESC sure made mine unpredictable again after the shock/chassis mods.

some good shocks yhat you could get are some Ansmann Racing Aluminium Damper Set 85mm which are aluminium and are pre assembled. i found these a lot cheaper to get because a set of 4 of these are 14 from moddelsport uk as when i got my tamiya cva shocks they were 22 and are made of plastic

Are the ansmann shocks a direct fitment to the lunchbox? Or do we need to buy some special clips to go with them?

Hi guys, I have now received my uprated shocks for my LB and just wondered what the best setting was to use to enable the best / smoothest running of it? I have soft and hard springs to choose from as well as three different choices of plastic rings that go inside the shocks that make the shocks harder of softer (the pieces with the holes in them - more holes = softer suspension etc!).

Any advice would be great, cheers <_<

Are the ansmann shocks a direct fitment to the lunchbox? Or do we need to buy some special clips to go with them?

Hi All,

Buying my 1st Lunchbox... about time!

Want to pick up some oil dampers to replace the stock ones, and I like the Ansmann Alloy ones better than the Tamiya CVA 50520's.

I have read 6 million ( approx !) posts on 'ideal 'shock lengths ( 75mm, 85mm, 95mm etc).. I just decided to settle for 85mm Ansmann's all around ( or maybe 85mm rear and 75mm front) and then saw this post asking if you need to buy special clips to go with them.

If I buy 85mm Ansmann shocks, are they a direct fit on Lunchbox?

I have bought a new built chassis, so it's unlikley I will have any spares or parts for shock hop ups that may come with NIB.

Please help if you can.

Cheers

Sweet mother of ancient thread revivals Batman! :o

And yet, you are certainly to be commended for your diligent forum search to dig up an old post that discusses just what you are trying to find out.

Wish I had an answer for you, but I really don't. Somebody here will though.

It is an old thread, and I guess today it should exist in the Re Re forum. When I replied to the 2008 post it automatically placed my response in the General Discussions area... feel free to move it ( mods)!

There is a fantastic amount of info available through this site from the last few years, and many of the answers remain the same today as they did 2, 3, 5 years ago! All that info also creates a lot of confusion!

THAT BEING SAID!!!!!!.... I'm driving myself nuts trying to decide which size shocks to buy for this Lunchy so if there are any owners who have bought the 75mm or 85mm Ansmann alloy shocks for this kit, did they come with all hardware etc to mount to Lunch Box?

Thanks!

Could go into the re-re forums or the Monster Truck forums.....

However.......

Go on eBay, stick "80mm shocks" into the search line and your should find some pairs for about £10.49. They're silver aluminium jobs from Yeah Racing and I have them on my Monster Beetle, Blackfoot, Clod, TXT-1, and my now sold Lunchy. You'll just need some shock oil for them as they don't come with any in them.

I've brought them all from the seller (Racing Punk) and his turn around is usually post them out the same day.

They work for the third shock mod too if you use the soft spring and some soft oil.

The body mounts are provided in the metal parts bag of the re-re Lunchboxes so I you haven't still got that you may need to hunt for some on eBay too.........some 3mm nuts and bolts are handy too!
