My friend finally has his Mad Bull up and running but we are a little concerned at it's ability to reverse.

As soon as the car begins to travel backwareds the front suspension crushes down and the nose drags against the floor.

As far as we can see the instructions have been followed and everything looks in order.

Is this a general thing with the Mad Bull or is there some other reason this is happening?

Cheers,

TK

i think its something to do with the large wheels on the front, solution? Drive forwards!!!

my grasshopper II with monster truck tires all around does the same thing. i think it is just the geometry of this type of suspension and big tires.

I know this is an old post, but here's the video for the Mad Bull Hippy Hippy Shake  Yes that's my Mad Bull - one of my other usernames and the one on you tube is TachyonDriver.

All the models with these big wheels and single arm front suspension do this. Lunchbox, Pumpkin and Mad Bull included. When you fit these big wheels to the likes of Hornet, Super Hornet, Grasshopper and Grasshopper II, they will bottom out the front suspension as well. It's to do with the camber angles and bumpsteer. The solution is double wishbone front suspension. On the DT01 it requires the use of some DT02 front suspension parts and some cutting on the DT01 lower arm. I've modified my Lunchbox, Grasshopper (Has run with the big wheels) and the DT01 with double wishbone front suspension and they no longer bottom out the front suspension while reversing. The added bonus is that they also go where you point them when travelling forward.

It is the one thing I like about the big wheel brigade. All the weird camber angles, terrible steering nose diping when reversing etc, etc, etc. It is what makes them fun. For the serious bashers I think Mark has all the answers for you.
