I don't know about this kit specificly but a few of the local guys here have the Ansmann 1:8 nitro buggys and 2 things we all noticed with them is the servos are pure junk (all dead in the first week, steering and throttle) and the lower arm hinge pins are made of very soft material and bend with normal use (not crashes). Hard to know if the buggys will relate to this truck but I would expect the same servos and similar build quality.

Most of the time the rule of 'You pay for what you get' applies. These buggys were dirt cheap for GP 1:8's.

Cheers, Mark

I thought as much...but I am still tempted, based entirely on the price. This is in the same price range as many static model kits!

I can find very little information on Ansmann cars in general but did come across a few Swedish forums where the guys were complaining about the instruction manual in particular, but otherwise seemed fairly surprised at the quality in comparison to previous kits. The Smacker was referred to and apparently the plastic in this one is better, but still not great. I think I am going to give it a go and just remember not to expect too much from it.

hi just wonderin did you get the royal flash?

and did you find any more information anywhere about them, you mention a swedish forum, which one

cheers

Hello mate.

I did buy the car and enjoyed building it but was disappointed as soon as I used it. I knew I was taking a risk with it being so cheap so put it on eBay soon after.

I will see if I find a link to the forum for you. Google goes a reasonable job of translating it to English.

Tom

UPDATE: I really have tried mate and can't seem to find the site for the life of me. I don't appear to have bookmarked it and Google's not showing it either.

Sorry.

TOM
