Wondered what the (unbiased) consensus on the best Touring Car make? Is Tamiya really the entry level, with Losi and Associated etc what everyone moves up to after 6 months with Tamiya?

I love my TT-01. It's absolute class. I suppose I just want to know whether the hop ups, special motors etc are worth it, or whether I need a whole new set up to REALLY compete.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Well, both the TRF414, the 415 and all the TB Evo cars have done pretty sharp in the world champs, but all of these are worthless without the most important hopup there is, namely a good driver. Since these cars have numerous setup adjustments they also need a mechanic that understands chassis dynamics to perform its best.

Tamiya's product line has a very broad range, everything from entry to pro-competition level cars. The TRF415 is the current world champ, but Odd-N is correct, a good driver who understands the adjustability of the car, is needed to fully utilize its capability.

Also Tamiya's current competition cars, the EVO IV and 415 are pretty expensive, but they appear to be competitive right out of the box. So, they might be cheaper in the long run as you may not have the added expensive of hop-ups to make the car competitive?

I don't know if a TT-01, hopped up or not, will be competitive against other touring cars? Probably the most critical factor will be the driver...

A high spec kit always is cheaper then a low end one hopped up to a similar level and usually the 2nd won't be as good as the first.

I ran a Tamiya TB Evo III for about 8 months and it was a real pain, constantly adjusting/fixing and could not get any parts for it.

Since sold it and bought a Xray T1R and have to admit it is the best car i have ever had (for racing). Built straight as per instructions and have not had any problems what so ever.
