I've read on these forums that the Pershing is the 'better' tank for offroad use - how much better is it than the Tiger or King Tiger as I prefer German armour but dont want to be dissapointed to the tune of £300.00!!

Also there are a few upgrades for Tanks such as metal tracks and such - are these worth upgrading to? any essential ones?

Just to note I'm in the UK where its generally wet 90% of the time - just in case this may affect upgrades or options.

Cheers

The Pershing has slightly more ground clearance but the KT has wider tracks, so probably more traction. Metal track will add weight and hence improve traction, but prolonged running at full speed will probably damage the gearbox its standard. But the Tanks are way over scale speed anyway but the new gearboxes in the KT and Pershing are better.

I took my pershing through some pretty hairy stuff when I took it out to shoot these photos http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=24017&id=34 I was able to mow down those tall weeds that look like burned trees in pic 6. The area around the creek where I took pic 1 has a lot of jumps that BMX'ers use. The Tank was able to climb them pretty well. Eventually the angle is too steep and the tank will spin. I wanted to use some of these photos but some came out blurry.

You can get adjustable suspension upgrades for the Tigers. Can set it to give more ground clearance. [:)] Requires a bit of filing and fiddling to fit though.

A buddy of mine used to have a Pershing and we would run them together all the time. I don't think we ever noticed a performance edge of one or the other. Only negatives I saw with the Pershing was the tight fit of all the gear in the hull, and adding the battle system required you to mount the IR light on the side of the barrel.
