No I haven't tried the gun stabiliser but I thought I'd just let you know that there is one Leopard2A6 owner out here in the ether.

On the subject still of the Leopard, has anyone tried sticking a couple of truck hauler motors in theirs for more torque, instead of the standard cans?

Posted

You shouldnt need to put different ones in.It has a power switch on the DMD unit that gives it more torque.

I fitted the Gun barrel stabilizer unit today and it works quite well.

Movie ! Movie ! Movie ! (if you have the tech stuff for it :) )

Pleaaassse?!

(still having doubts about what tank to buy [:I] )

As far i know, the stabiliser only works in the Leo A6 ?

Haven't seen it in action anywhere, not even on tamiya.com!

I have a soft spot for the Sherman. It was my first Full option tank.

I agree as a model the pershing looks better, but as a runner with gadgets i dont think the Leopard can be beat

I am afraid there is only one real solution to my problem.

Order them both!

Donations can be made on my paypal account, as a return your name

will be printed as a decal on my "sponsor" trailer :)

Hi Gunpowder!

Have you ballraced your Leo if so where can I get a set?

I am also thinking about getting the metal idle wheel kit.

Hi Dave

I have partially ballraced the wheels. What is the metal idler set? Ive not seen them,The only upgrade i would really consider is the metal front track adjuster. All of the other metalparts seem a little pointless really.

Stellamodels have bearing sets.

Love the leo there, that is a must have on the list of cars which now extends to quite a lot !

Sorry Andrew!

Just got all my wording wrong, I did really mean the metal track adjuster, which you can get on www.backyardarmour.com.

Yes i thought of that too,it seems better than the standard plastic one.

I have updated my showroom with more photos of my leopard for those interested

Hi Andrew

Im following this thread like a hawk - Im basically hours away of recieving my Leopard 2 A6. Ordered it from Stella with the bearingset and the ally barrel. (Rest of goodies will follow)

A quick question (after reading your writeup on the A6) - what early build tips can you give? Step one has to be on the lookout for. After building about 11 1:14 trucks Im looking forward to the tank.

Hi Jakes,

I can give you a few pointers, or in my case when building it what gave me the most grief.

I found the fibre optics a bit of a pain to instal, I managed ok, but you must take your time on it and watch out when you are bending and cutting it.

It is all pretty straightforward, the most finicky bit I found on the whole build was making up the grenade canisters with their little caps and chains(yawn).

Good luck in your build, let us know how you get on, give us a shout if you get any probs.

I agree those small chains are a pain.I used a hairdryer on those Fibre optics this time, that worked better as i snapped some on the previous one i made.

I would go through the gear bag and mark up the gears according to the parts diagram.First time i put a wrong gear in (easily done) and this time i missed a gear altogether! Didnt realise until id put most of the tank together.Couldnt figure out why it wouldnt turn! [:I]

Jusrt take your time with it Jakes and enjoy the painting (my favourite)

Where do you guys run your tanks? How do you transport them?

I have only run my Tiger in the garden. Too worried about bits breaking off if put in a holdall. [:0]

My favourite sites cannot be accessed by car, so need to carry vehicles some distance. The best beach is down some rough wooden steps, as bits of cliff fall down every winter. [;)]

Don't fancy the local park-dogs, chavs etc.[:(!]

Thanks for all your advice. [:D]

Haven't had much chance to run mine yet, waiting to get some decent weather.

I have had fun driving it up onto the low loader which I am making for it( towed by a king hauler), that takes some doing but it is surprising how delicately you can control the Leo.

Ive only run mine once outside at the mo (see movies) But it was on ground with stones. Not the best surface as it scratches the underside and stones can get caught in the tracks.I would say the best place to run them is woodland type places wheres theres compacted dirt.Im going to try and find an old BMX track at High Beach that i used to use in the woods, but its probably gone. Dont forget that they are Scale models that work, theyre fragile so dont go too mad.[}:)]
