hi there, this is my 1st message here.finally returned to tamiya models.

would love it if y'all could give me your opinions.

just ordered a tamiya lunchbox, expected in a couple of days.i had 1 has a kid so thought i'd get 1 for a bit of cheap fun.

so would like some opinions on set up.i won't be doing any racing, its just fun fun fun all the way.

i'll be doing the shocks, any ideas which would be suitable.

a motor,- what type, turns, etc. i know it is a bit of a handful anyway but still want it fast!

battery pack.6 cell.

will keep the esc as the standard 1 out of the box.

gonna use a receiver and servo out of my old T-maxx.

and what do you think about putting on a set of wheels/tyres from an old blackfoot? and then will i need another different set up?

ive looked at previous posts but would like current opinions and differents views.

look forward to exchanging further posts.

cheers, twinpod.

Hi  Just got 1 not so long ago myself. My new shocks just arrived from HK ill do them tomorrow and chuck some pics on. Swap nylon bearings for proper bearings is bread n butter stuff. I was using a a Clash 21T in mine but i managed to cook it, it was running fine till then, the standard ESC was holding up. Didnt wheelie as much (less torque id imagine) but was alot quicker and flew across grass. I also have some shocks/bracket inc to do the "5th shock" upgrade (there is a talk through on here on how to do that).

Ok put my shocks on today Yeah racing 80mm had to make a little mod to remove the play in the top of the shock.

The hole on the top fitting was giving some play.

This is the piece of rubber that normally comes on a standard 540 motor in a box set, pushed it into the top of the fitment.

Trimmed it down to match.

All done :)

You can tell the difference straight away, much more solid on jumps n bumps.

the box is up and running, well, apart frm a motor

done the bearings

done the shocks,put on 75mm

just need a suitable motor?but which 1. im still sticking with the standard esc.

decided not to put on the black foot wheels/tyres- they are not as wide as the box's,just taller.

will use the wheels at some point, will put on some road tyres, but not seen any suitable yet.probably wont find any either.

will post pics soon.i am dead happy with my results, forgot how much fun the box is-even with the standard can fitted! but bring on the speeeeed! and body damage no doubt.

sorry i didnt realise i couldnt post a link

anyway the motor im gonna get is a Tamiya BZ Super Stock Motor 23T ,think that will do the trickl!

tried to upload some pics too but got to scale then 1st.

put some 25oz oil in the shocks earlier, because it was a little too soft(and i think the 75mm shocks could be a little too short, but it handles better because its a bit lower).

noticed tamiya do a TZ and RZ motor, whats the difference between the 3?
