If you mean the XC Pajero (MTW) (the re-re) it is pretty easy. There are not many things that break, and spare parts are easy available (it has the same chassis as the Touareg). If you are going to drive in mud and sand (salt water even??) then you should mount a strong servo and the steerig can be a pain. it is made out of a platic pin through the chassis, turning in the plastic of the chassis. If sand gets in it it can be a show stopper. I replaced this with a rather expensive part from Bauteil1 (german XC specialist) if you are handy you might be able to do something yourself with flanged bearings and a metal axle.

The 540 motor is for crawling purposes to fast, better mount a lathe motor or a special Truck puller etc for more torque and less speed.

Hope this helps

I think they look extremely scale so if that's your primary concern then you should be pleased

I think overall (from what I hear, I don't own one) they are sturdy and do fairly well off-road, but of course they don't compare to the high lift models

There's a lot of videos of these on youtube and they are pretty impressive on how many things the Pajero can get past, additionally ebay has some items for this car including metal diff case etc

If you're going to run it anywhere soft, at least lock the rear diff with the parts supplied in the kit (G-tree). saves u a lot of walking when it got stuck on the beach.

You can also lock up the front axle by use of aftermarket diff-lock-spool out of TT01, it fits into the diff gear case, you'll need TT01 differential drive cups for universal joint axle to mate it to the XC front axles..

I have two XC`s both speced up differently.

1st one has both diffs locked, blue rubber sealed bearings, hilft wheels and tyres and an RS540 motor. It`s quite a capable truck with a fair amount of grip and speed and it`s quite nice to drive

However

My 2nd XC is the Re-Re Pajero MTW, with rear diff locked, blue rubber sealed bearings, 35 turn Yokomo drift motor and Schumacher 20 weight shock oil all round.

The motor gives it a great deal of low down grunt but still giving a fair speed. The light shock oil gives it very supple suspension and it is a joy to drive and watch it over bumps and up and down slopes, even with only the rear diff locked.

my personal favourite of the two is my Re-re it really is a joy to drive

lock the rear diff with the parts supplied in the kit (G-tree)..

the front diff? just pack it with epoxy or the sort.. or use another G tree.

or when you've used the locking donut in the rear... you'll be having 3 loose spidergears on hand...

just put them into the other diff in between the other 3 already there!
