Hi There, my bearings arrived from Singapore today, so got the Pumpkin finished and took her out for her maiden voyage! Has surprised by the power of the 540, or maybe just how unruly it was!

So, what's the secret, how do I get this thing to turn????

Thanks

Add some weight in the fron of the chassis.

Less willies but it will steer more.

Kontemax

Thanks Kontemax. Maybe I could reposition the battery??

Keeping the front end down is the first concern, then stopping it rolling in corners.

CVA shocks & the 3rd (or 5th if you count them all) shock mod tend to reduce the wheelie tendency & actually endow the VLB with really quite good handling (it's all relative of course).

I built my shocks with 2 hole pistons & yellow 400 shock oil plus fairly soft springs, the extra shock has a single hole piston with 400 oil and a stiff spring plus a spacer to stop the rear axle pivoting upwards too easily.

Many TC members have modded their LBs this way, eg:

This is insane - a brushless Pumpkin !!

Angled rear shocks help cornering stability too, I think this was Skip665's idea originally:

Thanks BJ!

That was a super-helpful response!

Especially in the Pumpkin :)

Cool, I have looked at the How To section and want to give the angled suspension mod a go 1st. What shock should I get and where is the best supplier? How do I get the extra metal bars (with the balls on) to extend the rear suspension outwards?? Sorry for vague description, I am new!

Thanks in advance.

It will turn! Eventually.

I came up with that mod not to fix the steering, but to stop the rear axle from wobbling about in its mountings. :)

But, it does help reduce body roll which means that cornering is improved just a little. You can see how I've attached them in this picture:

Basically just a few nuts and bolts!

The best thing to do would be to lower the front suspension and fit different tyres. You'll be surprised at just how rubbish the standard tyres are compared to after market ones.

Pumpkin wheels are an odd size, 2.2 original blackfoot wheels are a direct replacement and work with any modern 2.2 size tyre. The tyres on my truck are Imex Claw Dawgs.

Hope this helps!

Thanks MMBIB!

Looks like a popular mod! Which are the best shocks for me to buy?
