Hi All,

First tamiya kit I've built and I'm having great fun.

Just one question I though someone might be able to help me with :P with in the gear bag their is an odd cog/component which I can't seem to locate within the instruction manual!

I have attached the picture with the item circled could someone point me in the right direction?

Many thanks

I found exactly the same thing with mine. The odd gear is also in the Grasshopper re-re gear bag, so now I have 2 and no idea what they are for. The pitch of the gear doesn't match anything on either chassis.

A Tamiya mystery part. :P

Cheers, Mark

It's the idler gear from Wild Willy et al.

Another example of Tamiya using common parts bags where they can, the parts bag is used in all this lot:

Wild Willy

Audi Quattro Rally

Opel Ascona

Willy's Wheeler

Grasshopper

Mitsubishi Pajero

Hornet

Vanessa's Lunch Box

Midnight Pumpkin

And all the re-re's

Great use for the "mystery gear"! I had that question since '87 when I assembled my first Lunchie. Interesting tidbit. That gearset represents Tamiya's first off road gear differential assembly. Odd how their first gear diff proved to be one of their strongest.
