Repsol Escort Cossie

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I've just been cleaning my attic out in preparation for a conversion, and was going through a lot of old boxes of junk which i have 'accumulated' B) over the years, most of which my wife thought had been thrown away, I came across my old repsol cossie, although to be fair it has seen better days, (pics will follow).

So I have now decided to restore it to it's former glory (if possible), although being a self confessed noob when it comes to knowing where to start, any advice on where to source spare/replacement parts, which parts/bodyshells i can use on my chassis (TA02 i think) etc would be greatfully received.

Thanks in advance

Michael

Hi and welcome! Best place for spares etc is the traders on here, e-bay, and the "for sale" sections. Advice is free and pleantiful!

enjoy...

Any 190mm shell should fit, plus 200mm shells with use of wider axles and hexes or deep offset wheels!!

As a rule of thumb you can only really use parts that are for the ta02 and in most cases the TA01. The only differences are the chassis (the tub) the length of the drive shaft amd the front and rear suspension arms.

Take a look at the back page of your manual and it will list the part numbers for your car. If you haven#t got the manual, you can look at the pages on the main site (here)

or the parts list here

or exploded view here

They are a top car. The escorts are my favourite shell by far. They are quite expensive if you want to replace the bodyshell (can go for up to 80) but if you want an escort you can get the WRC escort shell for cheaper and that will fit on your chassis with no modifications.
